I understand the current stance the admin holds on the issue, but there is no clear answer as to WHY we can or cannot have one.
One server without a ping cap
One clanserver without a ping cap
All the other servers with a ping cap of 130 -
I always wonder the same thing but never asked. o_o I thought it was because it would cause borders. Therefore if "certain" people aren't allowed in a server they would quit this game. And if they quit this game CF loses customers/money.
Just a theory. Highly doubtful.
EDIT: What Emo pretty much said. =_= -
The reason for wich we can't have a ping cap is that administration wants our brasilian "friends" to keep playing Cross Fire. Imagine what would happen if a ping cap came ... No more BRs.
ARe you the representative for the CF admin? NO? Then why are you speaking for them? -
If you didn't noticed, Administration made it clear several times that they want CF open to any nation from wherever they play. Read forums better and more often.RawrJafrikan wrote: »ARe you the representative for the CF admin? NO? Then why are you speaking for them? -

Yep...they got no idea how bad things are gotten...how bad things are. They can easily ping cap 1 server and leave the rest open...but no...thats too hard as well. -

Wow that number is WAY off, my dear sir...
For one, they tend to move in flocks and droves to other games in groups because of their cultural ideals (apparently...). Just because they scream like a fully fledged army from behind a wall doesn't mean they are rolling that deep (this is a reference to some battle during the Frence & Indian war, but I'm not 100% sure).
I've yet to see a F2P game where there aren't any BRs opening recruiting people into Clans, Raids, Groups, Parties, etc...but only asking for other BRs. It's it's own way of saying "we don't want anything to do with your country or it's people...we're better because we 'stick together'"...
They then start scamming other players, calling people gringos when they lose in matches, get mad at your ping being better (which means they shouldn't even be playing...they can't compete), etc etc...I've yet to see any other ethnic groups (sans Canadians, as they can pretty much recruit others because they'll all have low pings, making them a force to be reckoned with...) only recruit people of one group for the sole purpose of going and annoying other people in the game for not being them.
On topic now, I'm all for a ping limited server...when you don't have to worry about if the other person is going to lag to shiz (or already is) it takes that much off of your back so you can concentrate instead of having to hope to all hell that the SOB doesn't start crying about 'mini ping' and his BR fam buddies trying to kick you based soley on your ping's supposed non-brazillian nationality...
I'd rather get plastered by a 0-4 ping player (yes...0...I've seen 1 in my entire time playig CF. It was straight WEIRD I tell ya. He kept sniping me through walls with pre-bullets on Prison.) because I understand why they keep doing it then get kicked because some stupid child who grew up with his parents telling him that his country was the best in the world and everyone else su*cks getting butt hurt when someone picks him when he was running into a wall thinking he was somewhere else......(yes, I've see that happen too) -

These are poor reasons to not at least allow 1 server for lower pinged players...
Hell, they already tried to appease (spelling?) them with the Florida server, but apparently that didn't go over so well...
1) Just because it's international doesn't mean come play here. Why they made it international, I don't understand (BESIDES the 3 current service areas that it was designed for) why people from other versions (or even people from equivilent distances...hence Brazil) come to play here knowing damn good and well that their ping is...
A) Going to s*uck...HARD.
Even get MAD when their ping s*ucks hard and get killed because of it.
They may as well have just left it open for NA/UK...yes, stupid idiots would try and connect from a proxy, but that would be reinforcing the fact that they know they shouldn't be on it and apparently don't even understand that having a high ping is going to ruin everyone's gameplay experiance...
2) Yes, the fact that Z8 CLEARLY is all about their money means they aren't even listening to the people who can buy ZP and ACTUALLY attempt to benifit from it...a high ping player with a Silver is always the first person to cry "*F*D*P*" or "RAKER" (because the R = H somehow...) or "AFF + many other swear words Z8 failed to filter". Then they explode and go into a rage kick fit when they keep dying because of people with 'mini-ping'.
Even CS:S servers CURRENTLY have ping caps to seperate players into groups THAT THEY CAN PROPERLY PLAY WITH...to show if it's skill you have, or you just happened to run into someone slowmo person who got the game thinking they could play it with a ping over 2000 and you killed him in one shot from his screen's perspective...(lol...really bad lag shows up as one bullet hitting you and the player zooming off) -
I think they should do a ping cap, where certain players within a certain area of the server can only play. Like with the UK Server -- only UK players /US South Servers -- Columbians and Rednecks
, they should make a BR Server aswell, just my opinion though. I think it would definantly cut down on the flames and QQ'ing of high ping BRs in many of the servers where there are mostly Canadians, East players, West players, Yankees, and Rednecks. -

I don't think we need a ping capped server but instead, a "local" server that can only be accessed by either NA or UK. One in NA that only NA's can use and one in UK that only UK's can use. We see this would work rather well because when alpha-charlie were lagging hard from the patch, it was still packed and all the lower pingers went to Delta in the meantime.
So if we had a server that only NA's can obtain access to, well 1. It would be packed and 2. Business would pick up as it might bring some of the players who had quitted before to re-join CF.
This allows us to play with more "local" players rather than everyone from across the world that teleport around every corner and doorway.
Gives the gameplay to be more fair and smooth since the pings will be ranging from 10-120 instead of 10-1000. -
Fixed...and I've seen numbers that high too...
Yeah. It was just an example. It would help alot to have NA only and UK only servers rather than them being open to everyone. It might not stop all the hackers it might not stop all the QQing.... But at least we can play with a more fair and smoother gameplay, instead of having this mixed and moody reg that may or may not hit a lagger. -
Ive seen 8k pinger before which makes me think that BRs now live on the moon
but OTT
i don't really understand whats so hard with making one sever or hell even two channels for NA or UK players only. Z8 can ban peoples pings, am sure they can make a ping limited channel or sever -
UK only? LOL. From Romania I have below <50 ping. From Italy I have my ping below <50. Benelux, Germany, all have their pings under 50. On the UK servers most laggers are from countries outside of Europe.
Ok a Europe only server :P. Idk how things are over there since I've never wandered across the pond before. -
so just because i can't have a better connection (my current ping is usually 130/150 when i had 50/60 prior) i must be not allowed to play with my friends and clan mates?:(
What I'm suggesting isnt really a ping cap, but IPs can be traced and shown which country the IP is from. So, if the servers can detect the IP, then it can figure out if the person is from NA or not. And for the UK, it can detect the variety of countries and allow those to play in the UK servers.
Now this is only for 2 servers, not every server. So worst case scenario, you would have to play with your clannies or friends in the reg servers. -
I think that ping cap is the wrong way to go about it. Have it to where the host of each individual room can set a certain ping range. The BRs want that (I can't tell you how many times I've had brs say to me "ping too low, 200-250 ping only) and we want it.
It is a win-win situation. -
For anyone that doesnt know Z8's stance, here is Saiden's famous quote:
"The stuff on servers has been discussed in the past. At the moment there is no way to limit the ping on the servers. There are no current plans for a private server and the vote kick changes are controversial and hard to work with from the developers perspective. Some of this stuff is on a basis of "if it changes we will make sure there are plenty of announcements and information on it" type level." -

Sigh. Smiley we've been over this MANY times.
The decision to do such a thing is OUTSIDE of G4Box' and Z8Games' control. You guys talk like G4Box can just click a button and BAM, ping caps. That's not how the structure of this game works.
SmileGate developed the game, then granted global distribution rights of the game to NeoWiz. From there, NeoWiz grants G4Box licensing rights to publish the game in the locations of North America and the United Kingdom. Not anywhere in any news releases from G4Box nor NeoWiz does it say that this game is meant solely for North America or the UK. They specifically say they have the rights to distribute the game in those locations, not that the game is meant to be played by users in those locations only.
With that said, this game was not specifically meant for NA/UK. If it was specifically meant for NA/UK, it would be closed off just like all of the other versions of the game, closed off to their region. Point 1.
Secondly, with the structure I described above, G4Box must abide by the licensing agreement set forth by NeoWiz. Therefore, even if it WERE possible and I'm not saying it is, those details would have to be in the license agreement. Using common sense would say that IF those terms were there, ping caps would be in place. G4Box would have to either re-work their license terms or obtain permission from NeoWiz to even consider such a decision. Even then, this is all contingent that the game coding and servers support ping caps. I have no idea whether this game was designed to even support it, it might not have been. I can't say for sure.
Basically, ping caps are not just a simple decision by G4Box and the click of a mouse button on some server settings. Those of you who think that's the case, you are indeed mistaken. There is A LOT of red tape that such a decision would have to go through and even then, the game would have to support such a feature in the coding. There are a lot of variables that make this a very complicated decision.
