China is huge, they are over a milliard. Aussies wouldn't even cross each other.
Playing a game of which you can't understand anything isn't fun. -
only if they made an aussie server for the only english version of crossfire..
z8games excuse "we need a licence"
my responce "well go get one then!"
It's not as easy as you're making it out to be
there isn't a store for this stuff, it involves lots of phone calls and meetings. -
-
yes i know so difficult and they won't make any money as a result of it....
No. they'll actually lose a lot.
Running servers especially in oceanic countries is very expensive. Z8Games isn't Google. They don't make a 22 billion annual revenue, nor do they have the revenue to place servers around the world (to my knowledge)
Unless Z8Games is a secret fortune 500 company, they won't be placing servers anywhere else for a long time. -

ewww another tasty alt.
Not to forget they would need to ask smilegate, G4_box, neowiz and all the others (oh, was that what you meant by meetings?).
Fyi when you decide to create a buisiness you have a contract (or something like that) on which is written every domain your allowed to make stuff in with that buisiness. It's also on that paper which is written what you're allowed to do.
Must be that exact paper on which was specified the UK and NA servers only thing. That paper can't be changed I think. -
Granted I don't know what kind of servers we run the game off of, but we're not talking over 5k a month including bandwidth, center space and hardware rental.
Wouldn't be a huge project for us to place a server in Australia. The issue would be getting SG to sell G4 the rights to put a server there for a price G4 would accept.
Without which, we'd loose our publishing rights entirely if we put a server there anyway. -

Lose ur publishing rights pl0x
nah idk, can u put one closer to Australia without losing publishing rights? -
I'm thinking Hawaii, but I have no idea what their infrastructure is like.MaypleSyrup wrote: »Lose ur publishing rights pl0x

One could also argue that American bases and islands around the world is US territory, which it obviously is, but the infrastructure is questionable and SG might oppose. -
Hawaii would be pointless wouldn't it? o.o Its a lonely island real far away from land :PI'm thinking Hawaii, but I have no idea what their infrastructure is like.

I guess they could get at least 120ping xD Maybe id be able to get an ok ping o_O then again texas is hella far lol. Was just thinking the ocean and everything :P Maybe it wouldnt be too bad.

Somewhere in the middle would be more efficient, If Japan didn't have their own version I'd suggest Japan. Although their version IP bans you if you aren't from their region. -
Aussies play on West Coast. Hawaii is off the West Coast - as such, closer to Australia.xPikachu_x wrote: »Hawaii would be pointless wouldn't it? o.o Its a lonely island real far away from land :P

A server on Hawaii would of course be pointless to Americans (except Hawaiians obviously), but beneficial to Aussies.
Oceans is good for the internet. No routers to slow things down, and with that, no ping increase to speak of. There is of course some signal reduction with copper, but not nearly as much as there would be with, say, 100 routers in the way. Which it very well could be on land. -

We're discussing the best solution for Australians while maintaining servers in U.S territory. Dot was smart enough to come up with Hawaii, which I should have figured out ages ago.

Not just to Aussies, but NZ and other places.
but idk how much its popularity it would bring. Either more Aussies/Nz's would Play CF and the server might be used a lot, or itll be a bit like West coast but worse ;/
