10K ZP to anyone who solves 'connection has been delayed'

  • So what you're saying is for him to increase either his RAM or get a better processor.

@Alexmeee - If what DDoTt says is the case then maybe try raising your virtual memory if you can't afford more RAM. Another suggestion is to perform a defragmentation cause if your PC is highly fragmented then it's performance will be greatly reduced. Also does your PC overheat?

exactly what i said get gamebooster to defrag your game and PC to make it work better.
  • have you tried setting dmz on yr router to see if it is a IP prob, or router firewall issue?

GameBooster only defrages you're page file at best. Otherwise it just ends all unneccessary programs that take up you're processor power therefore making more processor space available for CF to use. Learn what the program you use does before you preach about it.

it still helps run the game better. Your point is?
  • Start your computer on a "Selective (Safe) Mode" allow for internet connectivity and nothing else.

Ports all open (or atleast the three for CF are), router change isnt possible (sad face).

Basically if there is a problem with the router, I need to know what to change on it :S

    DGN1000 is the model.

ummm probably cuz ur internet gets laggy so throw away ur internet router and get a new internet company i would suggest Frontier if thats in ur parts cuz thats what had happened to me so i just had to get a better internet company and if ur ping is 40 it should go down to maybe 10 at most..
  • i know this has been suggested but try this first go start>run>cmd

when window pops up type "defrag -a c:" (without quotes or whatever drive your game is installed on) and tell me results

second for ram copy and paste "FreeMem=Space(128000000)"(without quotes) into notepad and save as cleanram.vbs (the extension is very important) this will clean your ram hopefully increasing your computer speed

third whats your interent connection speed? and did you run the speed test like icanhazcf suggested? if so what were the results?

please post here and we may be able to help

Here is a challenge for those of you like these sort of things, my Crossfire wont work, and hasn't been for ages.

The problem is well documented - trying to join a game on crossfire merely gives you a half loaded bar before 'connection has been delayed' pops up and you get booted to the lobby. Yet noone has actually posed a solution (many people have posted supposed solutions that they assume work even though they dont).

So I am willing to offer 10k ZP for the answer, just so you know, this isnt a case of turning off the firewall/virus scan/ windows firewall, been there, done that. If anyone here is good at networking stuff then their suggestions would be welcome. You may as well post any random ideas you have as I dont care have odd the solution may be (please try and exclude self-harm.. :) ) The qualification for success is me being able to join ONE Crossfire game without an error popping up, at which point I will gift you some ZP (probably by buying a playspan card).

    Additional Detail:
Router - I reckon the problem is with my router.

    Have tried:
    Opening Ports
    Clean Install
    Changing Wireless Adaptor

I will check the suggestions, ie test them, tomorrow.

If the above proposal isn't allowed, please feel free to unleash the banhammer (mercy, mercy!).

just offline your antivirus and put on off your firewall when you play cross
  • If is something that has to do with your connection since you are using wireless, if you already did all other options like

    Turning off firewall/antivirus
    Did reinstall and everything

I will suggest to check on your Wireless router settings

Such as your wireless channel (Important thing if you have other wireless devices running at home) I recoment to use either an auto settings or channel 9 or 11 which can be changed..

As well it can be another option to increase the range of your signal (if available)

The other thing, you can also try another wireless Encryption type, dunno if you are using WEP or WPA. but i will recomend WEP to test, either 64 bit (10 Hexadecimal password) or 128bit (26 hexadecimal pass)

Test this out and let me know, if that doesnt work
you and also try to do Start>Run> msconfig

Try to disable all the programs running at startup on the PC (on the Startup tab..) to check if any of those is causing issues..

You can also disable the services, go to the services tab there and remember REALLY IMPORTANT, to put a Checkmark where it says "Hide all microsoft services"

After you do that the list should be looking not too long like before and than do disable all.

Try that and let me know by PM or here.

    Greets

EDIT: I didn't saw if you where using Wireless or Ethernet, but either way if you are using wireless test all above, if not just use the MSCONFIG.

It is not his computer nor is the cross fire he has downloaded the people here are idiots.

-his computer is better than mine and I am playing perfectly fine max detail
-his crossfire is fine if it is starting up and working

It has to do with your connection. So it is either your cords or your nat or something along the lines.

    Also try;

-Buy a new cable cord that is connecting from a prong to the modem, should be a think black one (that's what she said) if this does nothing, it still may enhance PC speed (the cord should be free or very cheap)

-Buy new Ethernet cable. These should be free from your internet service provider.

-You may have slow internet. Go here; http://speedtest.net/ and show me the results.

-The cable cord is the same one I used on a different router for a while, which used to work on crossfire. (the other router is gone now :( )
-I used both wired and wireless connections, currently have a WD Powerline adaptor.
-Ping is 38ms, download speed is 3.95mbps, upload 0.37mbps. (UK fails)

-I have tried both ethernet and wireless, currently on ethernet through a WD powerline adaptor, previously (and have tested at all stages) with both 54 and 108mbps ****les.

-I have also tried a static IP address.

    -Already have 128bit protection.

-I already run at bear minimum settings upon loadup. Dont even let adobe load..
  • just make sure it isnt your interent, Checki the wire coming from the wall to the router for any splits, knots or bends. I have been having probs with crashing and getting that error so i followed the wire from wall to the router and sure enough it had slightly split along the way. (for some reason the bit on the wall where you plug the wire in is upstairs so there is alot of wire to check xD) So i rewired from upstairs to downs stairs and now it is working just fine :D

    - Connection is stable for all other games and wires arent stressed at any point.

    - Gamebooster doesnt help - nor does clean install with CF installed w/o AV.

    - Also my RAM is fine. Used to play CF on highest settings.

It may be your NAT setting. Are you Open or Strict? If you are Strict, there's your problem. Contact your internet service provider and they will help you make it Open if you don't know how to.

I really want the 10k ZP I am very poor man :(.

Hmm, this NAT thing is interesting - but there isnt a option to make it open, only to have it either enabled, disabled, or totally disabled (ie no firewall). With the latter two my internet doesnt work :S

wow your downlaod speed completelty sucks that is probably your problem get a new inet provider - I suggest 'BE' The unlimited package is what i have always used and have never once had to contact them because of problems in 4 years.

Its not his download speed. Its his upload speed if anything. Im assuming this is a DSL connection...? I play with 2.6 down and .69 up, no problems. I have had this problem before and after I changed my ip address it worked. Normally if you turn off your modem over night it will change your ip automatically(does with Verizon anyways). If that doesnt help, you need to contact your provider and ask to have your connection refresh.
Now theres alot of other things that could be done, like controling your DHCP with your router instead of allowing your modem to do it. But you need to have your PPPe properly inputted. Also look into running your modem in bridged mode.

my download speed has always been that, as has my upload, due to being in a rural area. unfortunately not living somewhere with over 10k people has its disadvantages.
New Internet Provider is pointless, its the line that is capped at 3.8mb. (Old copper wiring)

I don't think you read my other post.

I can also help you with manually resetting your IP. Anything for that 10k ZP.

The first para: used to play with these speeds fine (it all went wrong after a certain patch).
The second: Expand? I dont know much about network stuff, DHCP? PPPe? Bridged?

    This one?
If so, as I said - I am unsure how to change this on my router. As it isnt an option on the config. (surely should be able to do it on there)

  • Hey Alex I am a Network Engineer (CCNP) for the Michelin Corp. If you don't mind give this internet debug a run and post the results link back here. I don't care much for the 10k zp but I do care to help you get this resolved so you can play again. Also that test will take around 5-7 minutes to run and you will need to allow it via windows firewall when it ask as well as allow the java run time to install there content to be tested. The test is 100% legit as this is one of the ones I use at work to help troubleshoot problems.
