Why i hate ghost mode.

Now before any idiots see this and think "haha this person just QQ's cause they suck at GM". This statment is falce, ever since i started playing CF 2 years ago Ghost Mode was my favorite mode, i spent most my times on GR usualy getting a 20-5 kdr (4.0kdr) on average (sometimes less sometimes more varying on level of compitence of the ghosts)

Now the reason i hate ghost mode now is because of a stupid little glitch that the developers keep ignoring. What im talking about is the "no ghost breath while a ghost is bunnyhopping", this was not allways the case, there were many times in the past where a bunnyhopping ghost could still be heard, but for some reason now whenever a ghost bunnyhops they seem to give off no sound at all, and i am not the only person who has noticed this many of my friends on CF have noticed the same problem.

Now im not going to sit here and say "ban bunnyhopping its a farse and unfair" because no, ghosts do need a way to get around unseen, what is unfair tho is when the GR side cannot even hear them.

I ask this, Without mindlessly spraying and praying everywhere, how are you suposed to kill an enemy that you cannot see or hear? (smoke nades not counted as they are only a temporary effect and most ghosts avoid going into smoke)

well, what i think is there is a delay of breathe somehow, when ghost bhop past you and not kill you. but if the ghost bhop to you and kill you at the second, you hear it after you die, which wouldnt matter anyway because you are about to be dead anyway.
but seriously, though i play gr more than bl. i still think ghost is the most fun part of cf, if there is no hack.
  • i started playing crossfire 2 years ago to since it was on subagames and my fav mode is ghost mode as wel my over all gostmode kdr is like 5.0kdr and i play only BL site

bhope is like stading still witch will give out A BREATH sound but does.t show the body

and i think as a BL player thats it's unfair to the GR players to not hear me

I hope they at it back so the Noob's can stop QQing about i hack breath and sutchhh

    thnx for making this treath

PS: LAst game i got 28/4 and a noob sad im gonna reported you you h..a.ck.er

......i had to lol so hard (where is our community going to ... im stil loling
  • There's also the forward bhop so you dont even know there's a ghost there until you're dead.
I havent played for a while, is it true that the smoke/light thing has been patched? I mean where you can see a ghost if they are in front of any light or smoke. Cause that kinda even things up a bit.

no thats not far i can't be bhoping infront of a smoke nade and they still see me if i was in the some okey but not infront of it

Yeah.. I was here 2 years ago too and GM was a much more fun mode to play in. But I say that when they introduced ZP knives and accessories such as low stepping and low breathe, that's when GM died. It almost got revived by being able to see ghosts from light and smoke but now with that gone, it's diein' again.

Ghost mode died a long time ago..when you know who invaded this game.

Yeah that too. But even at that there was still a chance... Now with all the different weapons available to ghosts, and with you know who invading the game, there's just no reason to play the mode anymore.
  • I guess they patched the smoke/light thing cause Rival Factions will have GM matches and they dont want GR to win.
  • I have been playing Ghost Mode ever since i played Crossfire. And to be honest, I haven't noticed any "no breath" in less they have the V.I.P hack. Personally i would check our sound card if you keep having this problem, but as for me, I can hear ghosts clear as day.
  • I myself is an avid player of Ghost Mode, I generally do pretty well on GR mainly because I pay a lot of attention to the surrounding environment, being able to pick out unsuspected ghost but the one thing I feel that is a little bit unfair is the breath bug when ghost bhoping,

For long I've tried to train myself to counter the bhop, sometime it works sometime it doesn't. Point is whenever I encountered a seasoned bhoper, things usually go down the drain as the breath is very misleading.

But more to this problem I think we all forget what GM is about: Team work. Think about it, having a reliable buddy to watch out for you, even as if the ghost bhop around and kill you, the team mate can still pick him out. In the end, i still think the breath is so what has to be fixed or rework on as sight is sometime not enough to defeat a smart enemy. :D
  • "no ghost breath while a ghost is bunnyhopping",

Umm there is breath. Even with breathdown you can hear them while bhopping.

May i suggest a better pair of headphones or a soundcard?

I agree the game is about teamwork, but that makes no difference if say.. lets say u have 2 friends with you, and the rest are off doing there own thing or in there own "team cells", now imagine 2-3 ghosts bhopping where u cannot see them, and cant hear them because of the glitch, now your "cell" doesnt know they are there, and with there teamwork they can wipe u all before u even know there close.

yes teamwork is essential, but if you put this teamwork on both sides, the obviousness of ghosts having the upper hand stays true.

I apologise, you seem to take me for a noob with a sh***y home desktop computer, i use a gaming PC that cost me over £2000, Aprox $3000 USD. and i allways update to the newest hardware and software. i also use £200 headphone/mic headset. so i apologise but i hardly think its my hardware or software that is the case. also the fact that i know probably about 40 people on my friends list who all have the same situation.

My only view is you must not play ghost mode very often, that or you play against a lot of noobs.
  • Did you look at my clan?

Last time I checked D&B was a ghost mode clan so I know what im talking about.

I play on an average laptop w/ a $50 headset and I am unable to reproduce this no breath bug you are referring to. There is breath.. but with good bhoppers you only have a second to react to it.

    D&B?

Never heard of them, and thats great, i was the leader of a GM clan for a year and a half.

Just because your in a GM clan doesnt mean you are suddenly a pro GM'er and know all there is to know on GM. If a noob joins your clan, does that automaticly make them a master of all things GM? no, and so ur guild in relation to your own knowledge makes no impact.

And yes you hear them for a seccond before they strike, 99% of the time that is not enough time to... 1 - locate where they are, 2 - target said area, and 3 - kill them before there swing kills you.

~facepalms~ i am going to find something else to do now, i hate debating things with people who cant see the obvious its frustrating.
  • & lol rank 1126 xD

my old GM clan was in the 80's rank. mabie u know it, formaly known as *OverKill*, later renamed to Pandorum. idk if that rings a bell but if your a GMer it should.

There is also watching who gets killed (on the top left of your screen) and checking the mini-map for proximity to your location. If you know it's a seasoned bhopper who made the kill, then you know you need to move around a bit, watch very carefully for a fail/flash and listen very, very attentively. Oh, and hope that there's not some dumb newbie(s) running around everywhere and spraying randomly near you because they dont know how to pinpoint.

And Serenity is right, regardless of your rig and peripherals, seasoned ghosts ARE invisible AND silent when bhopping AND they can bhop forwards.

What she is saying is true, I have a great headset and sound card. Still can't hear the ghosts while they're bhopping.(well, 90 percent of the time, if they bhop correctly)

ROFL again basing your personal knowledge based on a clans ranking. seriously are you slow or something? i dont know how you didnt get the memo the first time i said it but for you i will dumb it down...

Just because you are in a GM clan, does not mean you know everything there is to know about GM. Your clan being a GM clan does NOT make you any more right or wrong.

PLUS that is an opinion based thread, a persons personal opinion. Also has no impact what so ever on your personal ability or knowledge.

Seriously get the memo already and stop making yourself sound... not meaning to be rude... but stupid.
  • What GM clans DO u know of nowadays?.... FoE(no offense)?

I dont keep up with GM clans anymore, i changed skill sets from pro GM'er to Pro sniper. (not bein full of myself by sayin pro, only say it cause im nifty with quickaim and usualy come out with a 2.0+ score on sniper only match's)
  • You concentrate on sniping and then complain when you can't hear a bder.. lol

Been playing since March 2009 on various accounts, read all the GM guides on the forums and also use my common sense. Funny how that makes you a hacker lol.

Hope to see you in game Serenity :)

Now leave my post cause we dont need the comments of an idiot messing up chat between people who actualy know what there talking about.
  • Nope i said bder.. breath downer

I'm going to quit posting because with grammar and spelling like this:
    wud insult themselfs

    would, themselves

Who knows what I could be dealing with...
  • It changes from patch to patch like it usually does, quite noticeable. Last few patches, 2 or 3 ago. The timing of the Ghost Breath was actually in sync with the bhoppers to the point there was a bit of a chance to hear them.

After the smoke/light addition to Crossfire was removed, the sync was also removed. GM is a mode I play constantly so I can usually tell the difference. Its not really considered a 'glitch' its more on bad coding from the developers who can't make up their minds.

The only actual GM glitches is the bomb glitch, the 'ghost breath glitch' (which involves a sudden ear splitting of ghost's breath being increased by like 20 and fakes them always being near you when they could be halfway across a map, making it impossible to hear any nearby Ghosts).

Did they reduce the ghost breath as well in recent patches? Since the spring patch it's like every ghost has low breath and those who actually do have it are pretty much silent.
