I personally don't mind our taxes, especially not when I look at the state of the rest of the world and can grin with a smug smile.

    we da best

We do too. 32% for low-medium income takers, 35% for high income (>$5000 USD a month or something)

25% sales tax on everything we purchase (with money we already taxed ^), excluding live goods (food in restaurants etc) which is 12%.

And if you make less than 1400$ each year (I think) you don't have to pay tax at all.
  • Our taxes aren't bad overall, but we spend so much money on the wrong things, our healthcare system is struggling, what do we do? Increase the amount of money spent on our military from 360 million to 380 million a year.

The Swedish Army is shiet. :/

We have the largest military in the world.

    For absolutely no reason.
  • Well, we don't have any enemies to speak of.
Warfare today is all about intelligence and counter-intelligence.
Only the States and a few sad dictators that are soon to be taken down believes otherwise.
And for that, we do have a small tactical task force together with Norway and Denmark if I recall.

And we don't force anyone to join the military, its completely voluntary. Which is win.

You're so far behind, its sad.

We went virtually unaffected through the recession without a single loan, while other economies crashed, as did yours.

Our social security is amazing and always has been.
Let me just grab an example since its fun.
I broke my arm a year ago. I went to the hospital, 30 minutes later it was x-rayed and had a cask. I paid 5 dollars (bad currency conversion, more like 7 dollars actually).
The time it takes me to recover, my employer is prohibited from firing me and is forced to pay me. I also get money from my insurance company. One of my many, mind you, since we're automatically insured from the job, and manually for a small fee both personally and from the union. If my employer would try to fire me, the union would go on strike, and shut the factory down.

I paid a total of 7 dollars for this, not counting the union obviously which is another 7 dollars a month, and insurance which is 30 every three months.

How does social security work in your country?

Oh, yeah, we use SEK. Unaffected by the potential euro collapse. Most countries are actually, since they're keeping their former currency as back-up. Going from the euro isn't harder than going to it, which took a month.

economic crashes happen all the time, its part of the economic system. eventually countries bounce back (i.e europe during WW1 and WW2)

Countries don't bounce back on their own.
    Unless they're prepared.

Kind of evident with the American, Greek and Irish financial collapse, while a lot of other nations in the same regions did absolutely fantastic and were barely affected at all.

    Name one?

im pretty sure America has been done with the 2008 stock market collapse since 2009.

And i highly doubt we needed help, many 1st world countries with economic systems suffer through recessions and bounce back after a few years (great depression for example)

    And then 9/11 happens.

Not without a helping hand from other nations.
I'm actually going to change and say that NO country went unaffected and bounced back on its own.
Everyone needed help in some way. Extra imports, cheaper exports etc.
    And then 9/11 happens.

Wouldn't have happened with proper intelligence work.

"Extra imports, cheaper exports" referring to tariffs? that in no way is a helping hand.

Usually when countries increase tariffs from other countries, they do the same in return, it keeps a balance.

In the 1930s during the great depression Herbert Hoover increased tariffs on foreign goods and they in return increases theirs for America. We didn't get out of this depression from helping hand, we got out of it from WW2

you should come to portugal... 13% rate of unemployed, the government has stated that the country will be out if money next month, IMF is here, and most european country's are not sure of they are gonna lend us the money we need, our military forces dont have money to pay the veterans and the military, and all because of the corrupt mother***ers that stole our money and now because of them the people pay...

22% rate of unemployed here in Spain.

My family is not affected though.
  • Is there ANY reason we should be funding their pensions, health care, and social security?

Running out of money? Since when did they ever HAVE money in the first place. Being hundreds of trillions of dollars in debt doesn't stop them from spending billions on military and other useless money-gulping operations.

It's an excuse to make the poor poorer, and the rich richer. That's it.

Administrative cost. The actual treatment is free.
  • 8.8 percent unemployment in america, but it is mostly low paying temporary work.
  • 7,9, though the chinese grabbed a few of our biggest industries in the last few years.
