Got my thinking cap on again. Discuss this idea :-)
Just throwing around ideas, I figured why not come on here and get more discussion about it
Bobby initially got me on to this idea, they were employing this kind of gaming the other night and I think it could be a lot of fun and even competitive if done right.
Game Type: 3 v 3
Format: 1 Sniper, 1 Assault Rifle, 1 SMG on each side
Modes: EM (Columbia) , SND (Small Maps: Mexico, EE, etc.) , TDM (Maps?)
Rounds: 7, 9, 11, 13? (Might be okay to have longer rounds, with less people playing)
I guess you could say this type of match would rely HEAVILY on team strategy, as you only have a limited number of players / classes of weapons. I think it would be pretty fast paced, but a lot of fun in the right setting. Still a VERY raw idea, but I figured why not have a discussion about it. If you think it's a bad idea, don't insult me too bad
EDIT:
Weapon restrictions would probably fall in-line either where both teams agree on what weapons are allowed or I could write up a specific weapon set. I think it would be safe to assume teams in non-competitive matches could agree on the standard weapons to allow / disallow.

Sounds fun as long as there is regulations.[MOD]Polleus wrote: »Just throwing around ideas, I figured why not come on here and get more discussion about it

Id think most competitive teams do something like this. Still its a great idea, it will help all the clans. Help them learn how to play as a team rather than each person. As far as maps, a good team of 3 can do that in all maps. Lets do it! -

Awesome idea but I think for now it would have to be in clan server since ppl are gonna complain that they can only use such-n-such a weapon and since we know laggers don't wanna leave this game, they're gonna try and bring their m12s in every single match.
I doubt it would be played heavily on pubs since a good portion of the community only know how to hit the proper buttons to buy/sell/play, etc. but not soo much as to follow instructions. I love the idea and if we could get some custom maps for it, that would be awesome as well. :P You know, maps with 3 different routes each route favoring one of the types of weapons. Gives it more like if you were actually doing a SnD mission or a Elimination, etc. Instead of going around willy-nilly with guns a blazing.
btw I love this censoring now. I get to talk smart.

I would tend to say this belongs in the suggestion section but I'd probably be wrong.
Nice idea though.
When I first learnt about competive side if fps games (I used to play mmorpgs, don't blame me for that) I thought in a 5team there were pre defined roles (i.e. 1sniper, 1smg, 1MG and 2riffles). -
This is more of a forumers game. Therefore it belongs here.I would tend to say this belongs in the suggestion section but I'd probably be wrong.

I had a BLAST running this setup in the four attempts I've ran it. I look at this like a TF [Team Fortress] style of play, classing your teams in Scopes, Rifles & SMG's [could even be swapped for HMG]. With that, the strength of this format was in TDM. With that, the only maps it worked with were Train, Ship, Mexico and Egypt. I'm not shooting down the thought of an elimination rendition, but the depth of elimination maps that are NOT preset with weapons is small. I support this idea for a test trial, maybe a small event. But the rules need to be stressed; 3 Players per. Team with mandatory classes: 1 Scope [Sniper], 1 Rifle and 1 SMG. You could even discuss running the HMG instead of the SMG. But ONE of each has to be active in the match. This gives the play a new dynamic. Weapons; Like anything must be discussed in moderation. We really only ran on standard competitive weapons.

I don't really think it would take much more strategy or teamwork, but I think I would enjoy playing something like this.
It actually involved quite a bit of team work in the aspect of calls. You have your scope watching tops while your rifle and SMG's run ground work. It's EXTREMELY fast paced, and takes some grease like any team play. It's not so much SET strategy, as it is on the spot strategy. Everything changes on the second. So whether your calling traps, or angles...There's always gun fire and locations being called + rolling strategy. -
Since it's fast paced, I would automatically lean towards a simple rule set like a GP only list. Silenced weapons would automatically be out in such tight settings, along with the questionable stat differences in the variants. Thoughts? Opinions on weapons?

Any gun is allowed but m12 tommy awm-camo and scar light RED :O![MOD]Polleus wrote: »Since it's fast paced, I would automatically lean towards a simple rule set like a GP only list. I really think the weapon set shouldn't be to strict because with a variety of weapons in the rule set, it would make it more interested to see who uses what and also possibly how the team changes it up. -
Eh, I only wanted to restrict those 5 weapons. Scarlight reg doesnt bother me :P but m12, awm-camo, tommy, red dragon light(maybe)I really think the weapon set shouldn't be to strict because with a variety of weapons in the rule set, it would make it more interested to see who uses what and also possibly how the team changes it up. -

+Ammo can make a difference when running long streaks and traps. I'd steer clear of that as well. But either way, I'm supportive. -
Exactly. but I think extra ammo on an awm is derp if were gonna have fun.. its just gonna be a simple low limit cup match :OBOBBYnoWOGL wrote: »+Ammo can make a difference when running long streaks and traps. I'd steer clear of that as well. But either way, I'm supportive.
m12 should be definitely out. and tommy. >.> maybe kriss. -

This isn't a broad game suggestion. This is a specific game-play idea that can be implemented by users who are interested, just like a PUG-system idea. It falls under the Barracks just fine

why wouldn't forbidden palace or whatever it's called be good? i love that map, nice and symmetrical with good teamwork you could setup some good spawn traps and setups and such.
I played competitive cod4 on xbox360 for a year or so and this style of play is very similar to that with setups and on-the-spot calls and strategies. very very fun.
i was wondering if the smg/hmg could be subbed out for just a pistol? lol i hate smgs i feel a deag would be more effective. also, would you be able to pick up any weapon you want, lets say if your sniper dies and you grab it now you have 2 awpers?[MOD]Polleus wrote: »This isn't a broad game suggestion. I never tried the format in FP. It's worth it. As for swapping out SMG/HMG for secondary; No. As all weapons have a secondary equipped. As with the awp. Only one of each class are applicable to be active on the field at one time. You may rotate rolls, but still only one per. team active.
That very situation came up on a match I played and one of the point members swapped out his weapon for an AWP pickup, brought it back to his member. Risky, but the maneuver comes with strategy.
