Sigh...even though I post on xtremesystems and other hardware sites (and I build my own computers from scratch), I feel antsy about helping people here due to all the anger and egos people have...but I'm going to be nice for once...
can you press Winkey+R (or open task manager), click "Run", and type eventvwr ?
Go to either application or system, and look for any messages that appear around the time you are running Crossfire. Look for errors or notices, please.
I know that running Soldier Front generates REALLY WEIRD "ping/ack" messages on my event log, and basically spams a bunch of them, but the game works correctly.
If you have any event errors, showing around the time you start CF please post them here--also submit a ticket, as this needs to be given to the devs.
Also--and I don't recommend you do this long term, please DISABLE your firewalls, including windows built in firewall, and if you are using any sort of router, connect to your router (an example is to enter http://192.168.1.1, depending on if your router allows software access to it; some may have to enter 192.168.0.1 or similar), and go into your configuration, look for "DMZ Host", and enable it. You may have to find the local IP of the computer that the router is connected to, to tell it which computer to enable DMZ host to: For example your computer local IP might be 192.168.1.3 or something--the router will have it on the connection menu. Try this, then restart your browser and relaunch crossfire.
It's worth a try.
I saw people who have black ops, have the "server browser" disable their internet connection, and this was from an incompatiblity with the massive ping request floods and certain routers--it would cause them to basically overflow and crash.
I'm only grasping at straws here, as I am not a programmer or coder. But usually problems like this are related to software, drivers, internet connection or router issues.
Just to show you what can happen, yesterday I went to load up AVA, it ran fine, but when I disconnected and gameguard unloaded, it took out my ENTIRE internet connection of that computer only--even though my router and the second computer maintained functionality, I had to restart windows to get an internet connection on the main computer. I couldn't even go into my router with 192.168.1.1 !! First time that's ever happened. -

Hello I did these steps. I am a networking admin for my regular job; nothing seems to work. I even installed a new os, have tried multiple video drivers; also i have captured the network data that this game transmits; no errors what so ever. My speculation is that they are having some kind of DB errors on their equipment and its not keeping a valid connection to the servers. Somewhere the handshake process is dieing. What weird is that none of my teammates have this issue; so it seems to be user specific. I have tried new accounts and everything; same error still happens. -

Hello Admins,
I can always login via the main screen.
I am having an issue where Sometimes I cant connect to a server. If I get lucky enough to connect to a server, I cant join a channel. If i get lucky enough to connect to a server, join a channel, i cant switch teams, ready up, or access storage, inventory, or settings. The game freezes and i have to close the game via task manager. The game status in task manager says it is running normally. I get NO error logs in my event viewer.
I am running windows xp service pack 3, nvidia drivers, 32 bit. I have rebooted my modem, did the uninstall according to the forum posts. My next step is formatting my hard drive; which i really don't want to do.
FYI: i also get this error on my windows 7 64bit laptop. same exact issue.
There are no new errors in C:\CFLog or in the Z8games directory.
It seems that windows 7 64bit is not compatible. wish you a good luck bro -
