Comments

  • Good laptop but the battery life kinda sucks.
  • Pretty good, you'll play CF at very good frames. I have the sames specs, only that I have Intel HD Graphics and 2.4 Ghz i3 and it runs the game without lag.
  • How about this : Dell Intel Core i7-2630QM 2 Ghz (boost to 2.9 Ghz), 8GB Ram, 750 GB HDD, Nvidia Geforce GT 435M (2 GB dedicated graphic) and wireless 802.11 b/g/n.

    Is this good one ?

Well, I guess I'll see. I asked many people that I consider to be computer-knowledgeable and they all recommended Acer.

Also, I have a Dell now and it sucks.

Well it's true mine does suck :( I'm sure not all of them suck but the ones in my price range probably wouldn't be super great.

I agree with Toshibas being good quality, but the rest of what you said... not so much.

I would definitely rate Dell much, much lower on the quality chart than Acer. Hell, I'd rate it lower than Gateway...

I'm on a "premium" Dell right now... and I wouldn't recommend it. Cheapest plastic evar (I've already had to use superglue, and it's been little over a year), poor ventilation by design (only 1 vent, and it gets completely covered by the screen when you open it...) and my touchpad stopped working on me (had to fix it myself because techsupport was awful).

Not just me either... tech forums are full of Dell horror stories. Oh, and I can just as easily say 'youtube "dell sucks" and you'll see'.

You could youtube "anything + sucks" and get results. No matter what you're dealing with, there is always someone with a complaint.

Idk why so many hate dell, I've used a dell laptop, and the pc I'm currently using is dell. I've never had any problems... So either I'm a computer genius that never comes across anything I can't fix in two seconds, or I got lucky over 15 times in a row, or dell doesn't suck.

Instead of hearing complaints about certain computers. I'd like to see someone show me a computer that is problem free, even when the owner isn't tech savy.

Yes, that's basically the point I was making in my last comment.

Also, the point isn't if you can easily fix it... it shouldn't encounter those issues in the first place. Granted, everything will have problems... but the quality of a unit is based on how infrequently those problems occur.

I used to make the same argument over Gateways, as they were everything I ever used. I was used to "fixing" the issues, so I never gave them much thought. It was only after I switched to another "Brand" that didn't give me nearly as much problems that I "learned" what quality was about.

I said I've had zero problems with my dell... I've done computer repairs with my dad my entire life, I know a good computer when I see it.

Mah bad, I assumed that since you mentioned you've never come across something that doesn't take long to fix, that you've had some minor difficulties.

Guess your luck contrasts mine with Dell at least (which is good, I would never want you to run into troubles). IMO, when you look at the overall picture, they're not industry leaders in quality. They may be alright, but they're definitely no better than Acer (I'm being generous here).

Oh, and you can't fix design flaws like inappropriately placed vents. Details count too >.>
  • Lemme throw my lowly opinion in the arena here.

For whoever said GL with overheating. Read my undervolting guide.

Now the Acer quality debate, no for the most part acer has no better quality than other large scale manufacturers, they all suck, with the exception of MSI, but that of course comes at a price.

The problems i've had with dells: Screen hinges break due to cheap plastic, laptop reaches 80+ celsius under load with no undervolt. Keyboards on the laptops break easily.

Problems i've had using acers: Same keyboard issue, lack of good support.
