That's the spirit!
(I play Crossfire at 10-20 fps, and counter strike source at 80-90. Go figure) -
Aff, that's rough.aMoistmuffin wrote: »That's the spirit!

How about this one (Green_Ranger found it):

well, the processor is quad instead of dual. That's about it. -

Green_Ranger wrote: »Actually it's not a Sandy Bridge i5, so it's just a dualcore. Nevertheless, it's still better.
Not really, that 100 extra mhz isn't going to do ANYTHING noticeable, numbers-wise it's better, but performance wise you would never see a difference. -
Well, I said it would be better... but not by how muchaMoistmuffin wrote: »Not really, that 100 extra mhz isn't going to do ANYTHING noticeable, numbers-wise it's better, but performance wise you would never see a difference.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there was further difference than just clocked speed between i3 and i5...
I can't remember what exactly atm, and limited internet access doesn't help >.> -

it's the amount of L3/L2 cache, and in the case of the sandy bridges the size of the dies is different. -

Acer is really good for their laptops.HughMungus wrote: »I do enjoy keeping more Bens around.
Gracias to both of you. Every single person I asked recommended an Acer of some sort!
Acer, MSI, and Alienware are the only manufacturers I would recommend for laptops, though alienwares are stupidly overpriced they are the best in the laptop category imo. -
Out of curiosity, can you make sense of these numbers?aMoistmuffin wrote: »Who doesn't?
Mr. Ben is a close friend of Mr. Stretch and I.

Double post (yay!)
Afff, don't call me Mr. Stretch plis (Totally sounds wrong IMO)aMoistmuffin wrote: »Who doesn't?

IMO Asus > AlienwareaMoistmuffin wrote: »Acer is really good for their laptops.

Basically it is listing each processor by it's raw benchmark scores, (how fast it performs during stress tests)
I don't see what you could be having trouble with however. -
Ikr, mine too... but the mask kept it all togetherHughMungus wrote: »I opened the link and my head imploded/exploded at the same time.
I mean, click the little boxies next to the i5 480m and the i3 380m (the processors in question) and tell me what the difference in numbers signifies (in terms of valuable increase)aMoistmuffin wrote: »Basically it is listing each processor by it's raw benchmark scores, (how fast it performs during stress tests)

ok, the MHZ is referring to the core clock of the processor, in other words how fast it can process timeslices.
the L2+L3 cache is the amount of memory placed on the die, to store commonly used command lines to allow them to execute faster than normal.
The numbers off to the far right indicate the benchmark scores.
If your confused about the benchmark scores - Some benchmarks don't activate turboboost which is a function of the i5/i7 line to boost speed. -
Actually yes, I was referring to the benchmarks...aMoistmuffin wrote: »ok, the MHZ is referring to the core clock of the processor, in other words how fast it can process timeslices.

As in: based on those benchmarks, how big of a difference would there be in FPS. (I should have said this earlier, but I'm tired >.>) -

Not much, the benchmarks are displaying more than just graphical performance.
That's also video encode/decoding, and a bunch of other stuffs.
The fps increase wouldn't be that amazing that it would be worth Mr. Ben. -
well laptops have almost video-card-"chipsets" not changeable cards like on pc ... most posters on tech support mess up with their ati chipsets. i recommend nvidia wich is easy and comfortable to set. btw it's good notebook for this price. but not my favor choise for gaming ... only 15"4 -.-"
