And back on the topic of Handgun Week: it's just an extra little event that CrossFire is going to do. You might not have been around for "Sniper Week" a while back, but all that happens are a few little challenges, such as getting a certain amount of kills with that type of weapon, or playing enough matches of a certain game type. (Sniper Week was snipers kills and EM Prison, Hero Week was MG kills and Hero Mode) Prizes for completing the challenges would earn you anything from GP to temporary ZP weapons to black market crates, with better prizes for harder challenges. (I remember that by doing the Sniper week challenges, I got the MSG in a crate and PSG-RD for 30 days
) There might also be a GP/EXP+ weekend to finish off the event.
However, you are not at all restricted to playing a certain way. The challenges are completely optional. The prizes are often hard to pass up, though, and you will likely see more rooms that coincide with that day's challenge, as you would with the regular daily mission. Overall, it's usually just a fun week where people try different game types than they normally would and get some pretty decent prizes as a bonus; for this week's theme of handguns, it would probably be worth playing a few pistol-only matches as a break from the regular all-weapons games that usually dominate the servers. And who knows, you might even win the black market pistol you've always wanted as a prize.

There's no way I'm missing Handgun week, I missed Sniper week and am now 1 more ribbon away from the M4cc.

well sniper week was a 3 day event. Day one was to get like 100 sniper kills. Reward: Crates of something. Day two was play 20 sniper matches or something. Reward: 30 day PSG red i think. Day three was like a mix between both. -

I just didn't think that M4 week was going to be that similar to this, since that was mainly a community/website thing. There weren't really any in-game challenges to do with M4's, and the main parts of the event were the M4-Silver in the online mall and some screenshot/video/coloring contests. The M4 and AK weeks were more of a dedication to the specific guns than an broad-themed event like Sniper/Hero weeks, which I think the Handgun week will probably be more similar to. Probably... but I've been wrong before...

I found the Z8 sniper week announcement with the original prizes:
Tuesday's event involves headshots. Get 50 Headshots and get 5 MSG90 Crates!
Wednesday is our Community Day. Play with the GM's on Prison all day and win prizes and ribbons. Plus 100 Sniper Rifle Kills gets an additional 2000 GP for your account.
Get another 50 headshots on Thursday and get a 7 day PSG-1 sniper rifle.
Friday - Sunday - Killer weekend! Get 500 Kills and 100 Headshots and get a 30 day PSG-1 Red Dragon!
And all you needed for the ribbon was to win any of the prizes that week.
