Factory reset/restore

Hey guys how can i do a system reset/restore on my compaq computer all over the internet it says on the loadup screen hit f11 and nothing happens ive tried several times

can someone help me?

You have to probably press the function BEFORE you see the Compaq/Gateway or whatever manufacturer's logo comes on.

are you sure its f11? Check the screen as you start up, most of the time it tells you which F key to press for "startup options" or something

Look up which key to press for opening the startup menu on compaq's website.

go to start menu click run in the text area type msconfig and a window will pop up
click the tools tab at the top and then click on system restore and click the launch button : )

You have to press 'delete' as the system's motherboard splash appears, go into the bios (F12 usually) and reset that, if it's a hardware problem. You could format your hard-drive, however you'd have to re-install with an OS installation disk if Windows isn't pre-installed onto your HDD.

The easiest solution to most of these problems, would be a plain system restore within Windows, if possible.
