Resolution and refresh rate of desktop not initialized by crossfire

Well, I have contacted support throught their ticket system and so far
I have gotton a run-around reply. I need help. I will post my open ticket here
in hopes that someone will see this that has a solution.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, I'm having a problem with the in-game resolution and
refresh rate not being detected by the game since the
spring patch was released.
My desktop settings are set to 1024x768 @75HZ.
The in-game setting is ticked to also use 1024x768.
Before the patch was released the game would run at
1024x768 @75HZ as reported by my monitor.
My monitor is now reporting that the game is only running
48.3 khz @60HZ NN. It''s not even 800x600 @60HZ like other
people are reporting.
It is so very hard on my eyes to view like this with
all the f******ing (fl.ic.ker.ing).
I have a samtron 19" color CRT monitor.
I reinstalled the game as per to GM Saidin's guide on the
forum.
I also reinstalled updated Direct X and also reinstalled
and updated the Nvidia Graphics driver from version
186.18 whql to 266.58 whql.
I have tried to use all the settings in the in-game
settings panel to no avail.
I still get a 60HZ refresh rate no matter what i change now.
The monitor is reporting those off key resolution
numbers and not the 1024x768@75HZ as before the patch.
The only solution I have found is to use a third party tool
called RefreshLock that Falkentyne1 mentioned in this
thread on the forums that will let me use the proper refresh
rate.
These below are the settings which I have set in the game
itself.
Resolution: 1024x768
Color: 32bit
One question I would like to ask is if there is a
configuration file or initialization file or a registry
string that can be changed for this game that will make it
use my desktop settings?
Thanks.
Yes sir, as I stated in my ticket I have followed GM Saidin's guides to reinstall the game and update the drivers and direct X. The problem is that the game will not run
the same 1024x768@75HZ as my desktop resolution and refresh rate unless I use that third party tool to force it. I need to know what file I can change to have the game run at 1024x768@75HZ. If a third party tool can make the game run at that correct resolution and refresh rate surely there is a setting in the config files somewhere that will allow me to implement that setting. The game was
utilizing my desktop resolution of 1024x768@75HZ before the spring patch. I have re-downloaded the full game installer 3 times from your website now and have performed the reinstall 5 times or 6 now in hopes that it would initialize with the proper settings. It does not. The game
initalizes with only 60HZ refresh rate and not 75HZ as per my desktop settings.
Please advise.
  • I am having the same problem here !!!!
    When the game initializes it goes to 800x600 resoltion, this is normal for me, BUT, with 60 refresh rate instead of 75-85
    What can i do, we need assisstanceeeeeeeeeee
  • I run my CRT at 1600x1200@85Hz on the desktop, and at 800x600 in CF. CF sets the refresh rate to 85Hz even though my monitor is capable of 160Hz refresh at 800x600.
    Will look into using ReForce or something. Haven't had to do that in a while.
    To anyone who is planning to post a stupid comment about how CRTs are old and outdated: CRTs are objectively and subjectively better for games, and you've never seen a game run at 160Hz on a high quality CRT before. Once you do, you can't go back to an LCD :)
  • i used to play on a 24 inch sony high quality CRT display, however i found that a nice samsung LCD was better in every respect. honostly, CRT or LCD doesnt make a difference, just depends on the build quality of the Monitor.
  • The new support ticket I've opened.
    Here is the new support ticket I have opened since they closed my other one.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    My Ticket,

    Yes. I require further assistance. Why did you close my ticket? This is not resolved.

    The game will not run at 1024x768@75HZ without using that third party tool.

    Have someone to read my ticket that knows what is going on. I am not the only one that is having this problem.
    Thanks.

    Dear player, the server is running well according to the data. We are sorry but we are not sure what your problem is.

    You'd better reinstall the game again. After uninstalling the game client entirely, you need to download the new game client from our website.

    Please install the new game client in the E Disk or F Disk, which is different from the former one.

    Lastly, please right-click the game icon on your desktop and hoose "Properties," and select the compatibility tab.

    BTW, please run this game with all other programs off especially the anti-virus.

    We hope it will help you!

    If you require further assistance, please post in our Tech Support forum or submit an additional support request.

    Thanks.

    Ok, I will tell you the problem again.
    Crossfire will not initialize at 1024x768@75HZ now after the
    spring patch. Now it will only initialize at 60HZ. How do I make crossfire use 75HZ instead of 60HZ?

    I have uninstalled 7 times now. And have the game installed to the F:\GAMEINSTALLS\CrossFire\ directory on this machine.
    I have followed GM Saidin's guide to perform a fresh install in the technical support forum.

    I want the game to use 75HZ refresh rate and not the 60HZ it is defaulting to since the spring patch.

    How do I make it use 75HZ without using a third party tool?
    Where is the setting in the game or game files to make it use the 75HZ again?
    Please look at my previous ticket that you guys closed to see the specifications on this computer
    unless you want me to put it here again. Please tell me what file to change to make the game use 75HZ.
    This is a Samtron 96B 19"CRT color monitor.
    60HZ is not an adequate refresh rate on a CRT.
    Why is it before the spring patch the game would use 1024x768 @ 75 HZ and now it is limited to 60HZ?
  • that`s about how much they care about you or your issues
    feel sorry for ya trying to explain them and provide detailed information and receive back just another facepalm
    but as they say the hope is the last to die..
    good luck

    Dear player, we are so sorry but we are not sure what your problem is. Please post a thread about your problem and get help from other player. Sorry about the inconvenience.

    My reply 4/6/2011 5:52:13 AM

    Sir, what do you not understand?
    Since the spring patch came out the game will not run at anything other than 60HZ refresh rate. I have a CRT monitor.
    Before the spring patch was released the game would run
    at the same refresh rate of 75HZ as my desktop.

    I have followed your suggestions in the other support ticket and have also posted this on the forum.

    Please tell me what to change in the game or the game files
    to make crossfire run at something higher than a 60HZ refresh rate.

    This is my thread I started on 3-28-2011 http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=138865
  • The Easter patch fixed it. I don't have to use refresh lock now. The game will initialize with my default 1024x768 and 75Hz refresh rate and resolution of the desktop now.
