[GM]Saidin's Spotlight
So since it seems everyone loves digging up little bits of information on me, I figure I'd just go ahead and preempt everyone by volunteering some of the information.
So first off, I grew up here in Toronto Canada, and I did play in a band in Highschool. I played the bass. We were a cover band, mostly just doing some battle-of-the-bands type thing. Most of us were horrible at our instruments. But we had a lot of fun. We wrote one song a little comedy/parody punk tune.
Years later some of the band got back together and through a contact we had at a professional recording studio we recorded the tune. It was all for the jokes and we had a blast. It was a mini Highschool Reunion for us and it was great.
I've played a lot of games in those days, up until now. I wasn't in the first-gen console scene (ie PS 1 and 2 and Xbox). I played mostly SNES and then got right in to PC gaming with Doom, Duke3d and Quake. After spending tons of time playing FPS games (Quake 2 competitively locally here in Toronto), I moved to the Blizzard Family of Games. Warcraft 1 and 2, Diablo 1 and 2 (2 for what seems like years of my life), Starcraft etc.
It was through the D1/D2 community that I was involved in (often playing with some of the people who ran some of the biggest sites at the time) that I was invited to join the Guild Wars alpha test.
Some of you may have seen some writing of mine in the past on the Official Guild Wars website. I was highly involved in the early days of Guild Wars. I was one of their top alpha testers working on the inside with the dev team for years. I played the game competitively during the early stages of GvG and I got to know their community very well including their Community Manager. Which led to a position for me to write for the official Guild Wars website.
So I did writing on and off for them in their State of the Game articles which ran from approx 2006-2008.
After this I decided I would learn more about the games industry and took a college course on Game Development. For those kids out there looking to break in to the industry I don't recommend this route. There are plenty of other ways. And mine was filled with a lot of expenses and only a very little base to work on. But I did dedicate a lot of my time to learn how to 3D Model for games. If you've seen my stuff in another thread on these boards, it may be technically 'correct', but the art prowess of some of you seems to be well ahead of me!
After doing the school I was fortunate to start here at G4 and I'm now on the team that runs this awesome game. I'm certainly having a blast being here with you guys and helping the community and players as much as I can.
There's always a lot going on here and we're always busy trying to improve the game for you!
I'm sure that some of you don't like me, I'm not surprised, I can't expect everyone who plays CF to be friendly to the people that run it. Especially when you all are so passionate about the game anyways! There will always be haters. But since it seem that hate or not, you guys are stalking me anyways, I might as well just explain my story a bit for you here!
Now having said that, it would be great for the community to respect the privacy of everyone that helps run this game. We are here for you, but we have lives outside of these forums, our game, the company.
It should be noted if anyone's made it this far, that you should review our communication policy and know that we don't add people to msn, we don't send out personal emails, we don't add people to facebook or other social networks etc.
We are humans as well! And have lives and friends.
Now, flame away!

i'm still not sure, sure it'll probably be good but there's so many other good games coming out across the year that my money may sway towards instead.[GM]Saidin wrote: »It's on my list. It looks slightly cheesy, but then again what would a duke game be without cheesy. I played it at PAX and it was a lot of fun! -

Diablo 2 LoD ?
And if so, on bnet? ^_^
I haven't played in ages.
I quit cold turkey when my level 98 Hardcore Zon died to lag.
I also had a 97 Paladin that was a beast, he was a little non standard though (fanat and huge resistance+lifegain as opposed to bhammers). -

Hahah, ouch!
Never properly got into Hardcore, if I did i'd always die at like, level 80 or so. ¬_¬
I haven't played in a month or so, But i've still got softcore 95 Hammer 95 Necro and Couple of 90 or so Zons, Sorcs etc.
Only stopped playing because the Eu pvp scene is awful. -

Was never in to PVP. It was too intense in HC and too many ways to cheese it since the game was never really designed for it.
I only played Hard Core. In the end I was just farming for level 99 and I got cut off or something. Started walking into areas of Cows that should have had cows but didn't. Alt-F4ed and came back as a Ghost. Was a very sad day, I emptied the invs of all my chars in public games and just left the game. I picked it up once a year or so back just to see what it was like. But I couldn't get back in to it. The people made d2 for me the HC community was pretty tight knit and well known.
