i like the higher fps and i know the font probably didnt do most of it because you mentioned the other things but i dont like the new font its the only thing i dont like about it is there a better font they could use that would have the same effect? -

But the biggest difference was that Cross Fire is now able to run on multiple cores.
Before the patch Cross Fire was running at 50% all the time, 100% load on one core. After the patch it is running at 80% usage, with each core being used ~75%. This increases your CPU usage, but also makes it possible to use your CPU's full processing power.
Since you need two cores to run on two cores (obviously) you need a multi core CPU for this optimization to take effect. If you only got one core you'll most likely still notice a difference because of the other optimizations.
I've only tested this on my 2 core CPU so I'm not sure about the load on quad core CPU's.

This is just a guess, but a qualified one. Thanks for reading!
Edit: 1000 POSTS!!!!! CHYEAH
Edit 2: I got an AMD Phenom X2 550 overclocked to 3.9GHz, but my X4 will hopefully get shipped on monday.
Edit 3: Polleus and apqlwma is awesome, respect.
my FPS is 90 ~ 160 match 8 v 8 -
Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHz OCed just a tad
Mobo - ASUS M4A89GTD PRO
Video - ASUS Radeon HD6870 1gig
AA & AF set to max
HD(s) - RAID 0+1 (4)WD 500gig sata
Memory - 8gig DDR3 1333
Video card & processor are liquid cooled
FPS before patch - 190 +/-
FPS after patch - 260 to 300 (depending on smoke, lol)
Fail?
Nub wants to show off...

Nuff said. -

That's on Win 7, not sure what it is on XP, it was a long time since I used it.
There it says what your CPU is called. You can usually tell by the name how many cores it got. (X2, X3, X4. Core2duo, Core2quad etc)
on xp the easiest way is:
start--->run--->type in "dxdiag"
my processor = intel pentium 4 CPU (2.4ghz)
fps went from about 15-20 in 8v8 to 30-40 in 8v8, max iv got so far (1v1) was about 80 fps, but varied lots between about 50-80 in the same game, and still had fps lag (old//poopy computer)... -
My processor: Intel Pentium 4, 3.00GHz, 1.7GB RAM.
Graphics Card:ATI Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series.
FPS before patch in 8v8 rooms:30-45
FPS after patch in 8v8s rooms:60-100
My fps increased by 55fps
In 5v5 rooms I used to get 40-60fps, now in 5v5 rooms i get 80-115.
In 1v1 rooms I used to get 90-110fps, now in 1v1 rooms I get 110-150fps.
Good fps increase for an old computer like that. I don't lag at all in games anymore =D. -
On my PC I get 250 in 8vs8 SDs. Haven't looked for the other modes / maps. I had 80-200 before. It's became really stable too.
On my bro's Packarbell the fps went from 30-60 to 140-160 o_O. I was so amazed.
Haven't tried on my old xp PC.
My PC's specs:
-Win7 home edition 64bits
-i7-860
-GTS240
-4gig 1333mHz
-1To HDD
...
My Bro's packarbell:
-Random intel dual core.
-GT240 M
-4gig DDR2
-500gig HDD
-win 7 home edition 64bits.
