Hgwc loading error "file is changed" how to solve!

Did someone do this guide on how to solve this problem already? If so, Forum Mod may delete this.


Hey CFers, I have the same problems like you guys have and that it prevented me from playing the game for 3 months. I tried to redownload and reinstalled everything 3 months later and I still had that File is Changed HGWC error. Well I just found out how to fix it because when I did this, I could log in game and play now!

NOTE : PROBABLY WILL NOT WORK FOR ALL USERS, IM USING WINDOWS XP BUT I THINK WE ALL GOT THE SAME FILES SO IT MIGHT WORK FOR ALL, MAYBE!

Okay so let get to it.

1) Uninstall crossfire if you haven't already.

2) Reinstall the game.

3) Start the launcher and patch it.

4) After a while in the process of patching, you will get some error that says you can't patch the game. You will notice that if you close the program, and start the launcher a few more times the patch will be finish.(For some of you guys that don't have problems with Step#4, A.K.A error while patching probably would want to skip that step.)

5) Before that happens, while you get the first error while patching, close the program.
Now go to My Computer>C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire.

6) Click on the "Rez" folder and delete RF016.rez.( Don't worry, the RF016.rez will be back to your rez's folder after you've finished Step#7 so don't need to save it.)

7) Go try to start the launcher and patch it again. ( This time you will notice that you aren't getting any more patch errors) After the patch is finish, HGWC will start and this time it will not get the "file is changed" error!

Hope I explain it as understandable as possible. Oh yeah, probably need to do this every time you want to start the game like the next day, this isn't a permanant "file is changed" error solver, maybe it is but I haven't check yet.
