This happens to me now and again, just restart computer, keep trying and it should work eventually.

Really useful that. What does nothing mean? You wake up and nothing? You eat food and nothing? Nothing never ever happens, there is always something, even if it's nothing.

The solution I posted has fixed any issues I've had with the game in the past. I use Windows 7 also (32bit Ultimate) and to be honest don't really get many problems now apart from the occasional hanging on the login screen, unable to click ok but restarting usually sorts it out.

I really suspect you have something running in the background which keeps giving you errors, blocking files from being installed or updated.

Rather than just turning off anti-virus/spyware programs which in most cases still leave the core services of those programs running, you could uninstalling them, restarting the computer and try installing the game again. Then test the game and install anti-virus after if it works. If you then get the same problem you will know what program is affecting it.

I just noticed the problem you are having is Client File Corruption. This has also been confirmed to be a problem with certain graphics drivers.

Basically as you have installed a new copy of Windows 7, chances are your graphics driver are not up to date an causing incompatiblity issue with the game. I have personally helped someone fix this same error by updating their drivers via remote access.

Oh, and stick with Windows 7. It's much better than Vista when you get used to it
