You're wrong here. I couldn't play CF for a few months because I had Internet Explorer 8 installed. I had to downgrade it to the version 6 for CF to work again. Go figure.
Uninstall everything, CF and FF. Clean your computer as much as possible using programs susch as CCleaner. Reinstall both (don't install extensions on FF) then try again.
If the problem is gone, try reinstalling the extensions you had previously, one by one, checking if it works every time.
Since I'm using FireFox too and don't have your problem, that's the only solution I can think of. -

Imo the problem is somewhere between your computer and a chair..
You should try to uninstall and install again, but that shouldnt be a problem at all..
I have used like every version of firefox to access these sites in last two years and it have never been a problem, really

I was having a similar issue using the z8 forums website using Firefox.
All of the options to use the search features and user control panel would not
work and also i could not make a post. I was being forced to use I.E. Hated it.
Someone mentioned to uninstall all my plug-ins for Firefox. I did that and
reinstalled it. Nothing seemed to work.
I finally found a solution. I used the Firefox profile manager and made a new
default profile and that allows you to have several different profiles of firefox
.
Now with the new vanilla profile I am able to access the website properly.
This is what you do.
1. Make a new shortcut on your desktop to the file firefox.exe from the firefox
directory. Mine is located here "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
2. Edit the Target line on the shortcut properties sheet so it looks like this.
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -ProfileManager
(make sure there is a space between the last quote and the minus digit)
Click apply and ok to close the property sheet.
3.Run the new shortcut and the Firefox profile manager will open.
4.Click on Create Profile and click next.
5.Give your new profile a name (z8 forum) and click Finish.
6.Look in your profile manager and you should now see two
profiles listed. Click on your newly created z8 forum profile
and you can either un-check or check the don't ask at start-up option.
7. Click on the Start Firefox button. Your brand new Firefox profile
will open and everything should be set to default with no user created
plug-ins or bookmarks.
This fixes the problem for me. And I have found I actually like having
different profiles to use on the internet. I have one for games, one for
news, one for videos, one for forums etc. I can only summarize that there
was a setting that got permanently changed in the default profile through
something that I had done either by installing a plug-in or changing
an option somewhere.
Good luck. -

I would recommend you using some external password storage like KeePass with firefox KeeFox addon.. -

I like to have a hard copy of my passwords that I'm able to keep on hand.
So I use the plugin called password_exporter
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/password-exporter/
It's very simple to use. Just save it to your disk from the Mozilla website
and then install it to each of your profiles you want to swap the passwords
with.
After you do that just export your passwords from your old profile and then
open your new profile and import them with the plugin.
Glad my solution helped you. It was a very frustrating experience for me.
You get people saying that you're the only one having that problem. I just
laughed and thought I would throw this at you. I'm pleased to know it
worked for you.
Edit.
There is another program I have used for many years called password safe. It's very handy dandy
to save all your passwords encryptedly into a file and very easy to access with only your master
password. It has the ability to make several different files to save your passwords and each master
file can have a separate master password. Or just use one file for everything. You can copy the
file, save on cd, hard drive, usb. whatever so you can keep it forever. I like to keep all my personal
info like that locally here under my control. I don't trust that cloud based storage stuff. If they ever
have an outage or data corruption somewhere then all your saved data is gone or not accessible.
At least if you keep hard copies of your stuff you know where it is and know who has control of it...
http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/
I use an older version of it. v 2.04
http://sourceforge.net/projects/passwordsafe/files/passwordsafe/2.x/2.04/pwsafe-2.04.exe/download
Good luck
