They both are good in their own ways. If you like close combat go thompson, and if you prefer a little distance between you and your enemy, go xm8.
There is no best gun, i bet there is someone out there who can own with a single uzi.

Like the other dude said if you like close combat and like to rush the enemy, go for Thompson. If you prefer to take time with your shots go for a rifle instead.
