End of the World has only been 'predicted' or 'forseen' a good 200 times or so and it's been happening since before Jesus was even born.

Naa, I think the honest lesson to be learnt from all this is, even IF the world were to end, the people who predicted may be right, for the moment, but they'll have only lived half the life of enjoyment those who aren't bothered by it will have done for the preceding few years before.
I'd rather take my chances on being wrong, but enjoying life as it is now. -
in times of crisis, recession and what not, it is very important to keep/make people spending money and not keep it. movies like 2012, mayan calendars and injection of fear in general (very well done in the US of A) are welcome tools in order to keep that big machine running.

Because I actually am religious, I feel like I should say this. No one will know when the world will end off of an "educated" guess. Now if you are just bullsh*ting, you might get something right. OR if you say the next day is going to be the end, EVERYDAY. I'm not buying any of this crap these Mayans and whoever else wants to spread this mumbo jumbo. Wow, can't believe I used those 2 words...
Anyways, if you think about it, the world ends thousands of times everyday. When someone dies, worlds are crashing, disappearing for the loved ones and the actual person who died. Just sort of think about that maybe. -
You can't deny there is some wierd sh!T going around, partly due to us being Universally Aware with the chance to talk universally with the dawn of the Internet. Now the mix of all mans knowledge is back among us. It is still being rejected but the truth is out there.

It's so stupid how 'the end of the world' is becoming so mainstream when it was probably started by some basement dwellers.
The world will end of eventually, from nature, from humans, from god, one thing or another.
But all the tsunami, earthquakes, floods, that's nature. Worse tsunami's have happened, bigger earthquakes have happened. It's nature, it's been happening since... forever. -

True, but you can notice those disasters are cumulating last years (10-15 i guess).

Natural disasters have always happened. Go look up natural disaters and read on when and where and how often these things happen. They happen alot.. media often twists it to sell/ratings etc etc.
Tsunamis are generally caused by underwater earthquakes, and an eartquake this powerful was bound to cause chaos. There have been much much worse disasters than what has happened within the last 10 years or so.
People are trying to fit everything around the Mayan calander ending on Dec 2012. But most of it doesnt really add up...
The mayans didnt have just one calender. The one being referrd to is their Long Count one which did go up to Dec 21 2012. This was converted from their time measurement to our existing calender.
The Mayans have also stated dates exceeding 2012, at least well into the year 4000...
If they were so amazingly accurate in their predictions.... why didnt they predict their own demise?
Besides most predictions about the end of the world have been proven false...
MANY before the year 2000, and many after.. we're still here.. all based off of apparent "prophets". Chances are they were being paid for these predictions and hearing of the end of the world bought in good money.
Most predictions are vague and can apply to any number of situations... Nostradamus for example predicted 911 and the rise of Hitler but the explanations he gave were incredibly vague and more modern people saw certain similarities and tried to fit it around the predictions and go "OMG HE WAS RIGHT!" His prediction about the end of the world proved false... although it was an error in translation.. and after the "end of the world" the translations wrre checked and found to be wrong...
How do we know the scientists got it right? The Mayan calender certainly doesnt say, 21st December 2011.
Also this day seems to be quite convinient and falls on the Winter Solstice.
TL;DR?
