Its really simple. We're a group of people who, while not on the same team in game, are all pretty cool with each other. We're intelligent enough, known both in game and out for various reasons, and have more or less "made our friendship official"
oL is a club. Its not a troll alliance, its not some future scrim team, nor clan, or whatever. Its just a group of people who share some things in common and could tolerate being in the same room with each other without resorting to violence, kind of like being [onLan]. We dont have rules for our members to follow, we dont have weekly meetings, newsletters, a thread on the forum, an in game clan, nothing. If you act the way you acted before you got in, you'll be fine. If you act like a fool ass, then you'll be kicked.
As for where the actual idea came from, thats simple as well. As an avid CS fan/player (I've most likely spent more time spectating matches and watching shoutcasts then I have playing at a competitive level) I always used to note the tags as the end of a players name. I could never figure out what they were, but once I did understand it turned out that I really liked the concept. Clubs like [1g] , [st], [CA], etc were an awesome concept and something that I thought I could bring to CF. Sadly, since the restrictions on name length and the fact that it costs money to change your name make it kind of hard for everyone to fit a club tag into their name, an xfire group and the locations bar on the forum had to do.

OT: who decides who can follow and who cant? I can't find any really cool people to play with -
