Sound Settings?

Headphones are a waste of money.

Look around in the guides section, there is one that details settings that are suppose to be decent for ghost mode.

Should have bought logitech G35 / G930.
They have a built in sound card which supports 7.1 surround sound.
It's really good for music and movies as well

First of all, who cares if some pimple faced immature teenagers think you hack because you have good sound? They will never get good at this game or win money in any tournament whatsoever, and you don't get a forfeit for being kicked, so WATCH EM BURN! I'm 39 and nothing excites me more than watching people 1/3 my age call me a hacker cuz I just dominated them. Keeps me coming back for MOAR!

Anyway, this game does NOT support surround sound, so just set your settings to headphone mode. Turn off EAX effects and turn off CMSS 3D and 3D headphone, as it won't do you any good with 2D miles audio (which is the system crossfire uses). It's best not to have 3D headphone mode enabled with 2 channel sound games, as 3D headphone takes the input from 5 channels to give you simulated surround, which doesn't exist in crossfire. And there may be some slight reverb added in 3D mode, which you may not wish to have. Of course, you are free to try it, as everyone has different ears. Maybe you'll like CMS 3D-Headphone mode in stereo only games...

For OTHER games, if they support surround/5.1 channel sound, if you're using desktop speakers, set it to 5.1 channels. If you're using headphones and you want CMSS Headphone 3D, you NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

1) UNSELECT "SYNCHRONIZE WITH CONTROL PANEL"

This is the BIGGEST mistake noobs make. And I made it too, thus I'm a noob.

If it's synched with the control panel, then if you play a game that gets the speaker configuration from windows (example:Counter strike, which supports surround properly), when you plug in headphones and the X-fi detects headphone settings, CSS will be running in 2 channel (headphone) mode.

2) Set the windows speaker configuration to 5.1 (XP: control panel->sound->advanced; Windows 7: mixer->speaker settings). This won't affect crossfire at all.

Once you've done that, practice tweaking the mixer settings. Some people prefer lowering the amount of bass frequencies and raising the highs as lots of bass tends to drown out footsteps.
