This just depresses me.

Just because people say stuff, doesn't mean they mean it. I guarantee you this is just a classic case of internet toughness syndrome. Not that it's a bad thing (sometimes), but people tend to act differently online because there are no repercussions to what you say.KryxisAlpha wrote: »http://i991.photobucket.com/albums/af36/Neoabyssmasterofpi/sad.png?t=1299608058
Why would anyone say that? I live in the UK, but even I know lost friends that were affected!
Social Darwinism is not a good outlook on things.
For example, I can trot around "wearing" stretchy clothes, do cartwheels and ramble incoherently here, but I'd probably get arrested in the dark, evil real world. -

The sad thing is, these people exist in real life. That what makes me worry. -

Being unaffected about things that happen to other people far away doesn't mean people don't care. I'm sure that fellow would call an ambulance if he saw someone get hit by a car, or hit his breaks if a puppy ran out in front if his car.KryxisAlpha wrote: »Cold people are okay, i'm just talking about those that don't care at all.
Fi you care, you have at least a bit of human soul ^_^
Though I wouldn't say what he said, I honestly don't feel a whole lot when something like that happens. I get that it must suck, and I would never wish it upon anyone... but I don't lose any sleep or say an extra prayer for them. It's just normal... we all have our own families, communities to care for. I still pitch in donations etc... -

Then you worry for nothing. Or to put it differently, you don't worry for the good reason.
What that guy said is at least partially true. Of course he could have kept it for himself and not hurt other people's feelings but it stay true. When you hear that there's a high risk of avalanche, you don't go skiing. People that do it and dies in an avalanche are fools. If you say otherwise bring the arguments.
I'm not saying the victims of the australian flood were fools of course, there's a difference between risking your life to enjoy some mountain or for the adrenalin, and being taken by surprise by a natural disaster while driving back home.
Cold, stupid people are legion. People like that man, that not only thinks what he said but lacks the common decency to shut up are everywhere. They don't worry me because, most of the times, they only have a big mouth.
The things that worry me ? The dozens of people no one cared about, that died from starvation while I was writing this. All while there is enough food to feed all humans.
Or, I know this is cliché, the fact that people keep killing each other for the most stupid reasons (for example "You're jew/muslim/black/etc. ? DIE !" or "You want democracy ? Here, have some bombs instead.")
This, in the 21st century, is more worrying that internet or irl trolls.
