What's Socket Error: W[2000] L[10053] mean...

I'm on my iPod as my friend tries installing CF (so the info i give will be vague).

He told me on MSN that he installed CF and the game launcher is fine. He clicks START and it goes into the HGW thing. Then, supposively, it always stops at 66% and says, "Socket Error: W[2000] L[10053]".

What did he do wrong :s

    Turn off anti-virus. Redownload with a different provider.

    Ugh he stayed up til 2am reinstalling the game 5 times -.-
    He even followed the Stickied guide on performing a clean installation
    Now he's gonna play CS :( Damn I need him in my clan...

    There's a thread with HGW loading issues and i've gone thru all 65 pages. The solutions were:
    - reinstall (didn't work, even when he disabled AVG and all that)
    - remove IE7/8/9 (he uses Google Chrome or whatever it's called)
    - completely remove AVG... But I doubt this does any good cuz some forumers said they had no antivirus up anyway
    - add CF to exclusions on AVG (he stopped AVG while downloading and installing CF, as described to do in performing the clean installation)

    Nothing works... One person said to wait for he next patch tho -.-
