Elo

How difficult would it to be to install an Elo system in clan servers?

  • idk but a lot of bad players would be high elo
  • This would be VERY EASY to implement... just instead of working with win/loss your working with points...

The game can already count when a team wins or lose, how hard would it therefore be
To add or subtract points based on a simple formula?

The better question would be, is it a good idea... I'll just say that the reason why my clan
Does not at the moment participate in scrims is because, there is only so much fun you can
Have with VERY blatant aimbotters (or whatever hack is the flavor of the month). Sure you
can usually outplay bad hackers, but why would I also want the added insult of losing points
for loosing against a hack clan?

That and it'll be exploited by clans that wish not to legitimately gain elo points.

Easier said then done. Considering they would have to recode their entire database to allow for this (while still keeping the current structure until the elo system is finished), push all this new information through databases ingame and on the website, figure out how often to let it refresh without breaking everything, probably need new hardware for the extra load, etc.

An ELO system has been posted in Suggestions a few times. It would take too many resources and too much time to setup while continuing with all the regular work and patches that need to be done on CF.

As for clans exploiting elo points, how so? You can only play against a farm team so many times before the point gain is almost nothing and that farm team becomes completely useless for anything.
  • Farm teams will have trouble rising in Elo, since they lose/win a lot. Unless you are talking about teams that will play one another and one purposely lose.

    Oh, that's a problem.

I mean farm teams as in teams set up just to farm ELO. Example:
Team A plays Team B. Team B purposely loses. Team A wins. Repeat.

That will only work for so long until the ELO gain from winning is negligible. Keep in mind that losing also causes that team's ELO to drop, and the bigger the gap, the smaller the reward.

Let's say Team A and Team B both start at 1200. Team A wins 50 ELO, Team B loses 50 ELO . Now it's 1250/1150. Team A wins again, this time only 30 ELO and team B loses 30 ELO. Now it's 1280/1120. Team A wins, only winning 10 ELO and team B loses 10 ELO. Now it's 1290/1110. Team A wins again, +5 ELO and Team B -5 ELO.

You get the point. Point gain becomes pretty much worthless and eventually it'll get to just 1 point of gain or even nothing for winning against a team with such a low ELO. There's only so far up the rankings you can get on an ELO ladder against <1200 ELO teams. Sure, farming teams will be a problem, but the -top- teams will have to be legit (or hack) to get there.
