Game host

Hello fewllow CF players, i'm here to suggest something that could be a temporary solution for the "lag"

When creating a new room, the host will have the option to select between:

Host the game:
Hosting the game will make the user's pc a mini-server for it's game only, so people playing around him will have a lower ping, making it a nice temporary solution to the latency problems.

Host at the server:
Hosting the game at the server will host the game at the server, as it is already when we create the servers today.

So, wat'chu guys think?

That is not possible....you host the game or the server does
1 of those things and this can be abused heavily!!!

host the game on your pc and than using some kinda of whatever cheat to increase the exp because the game is hosted on your pc than! you have full control over it client sided and server sided!
and than when the match ends your pc send the info about that match to the server for the ranking system zp system just everything!

    so -1

you know, that even while hosting the game at your pc, it will still have to be connected to the servers to work?
it will still monitorate your game, so you cannot do any of these things.
look how point blank works ._.

    But your hosting the game...
you got all the information for the game
something that is just monitoring you the game is not the on hosting the game...
It doesn't have the information you got!

P.s Making something like this is even harder and cost allot of money!

yes it have, your computer will pass everything that you're doing to the servers, IF the information is altered, the game engine will detect it, so, they cannot modify the information transit in any kind of way.
The game is only hosted so you re the "point" that connects everyone, but the servers will still have all the information.

and no, it wouldn't cost a lot of money, just some programming skills (altough the dev's show us that they don't know a thing about programming ._.')

    Oke than...but I still problems...like
server problems and ya the programming skills = will cost money to find new people xD
  • Hm would be nice. This is a really nice idea. I know there will be bugs in this system. :P

yeah, in the first contact of course there will be some problems with the system and such, you'll only know when you run the system, so, they should create a test server with this option, so, the mods and gms will test it before the release :P

Like IWNET?! NO WAY!! i have freaked out when i was playing mw2 due to IWNET!! HELL NO!! >.<
  • A F2P game with dedicated servers?... I don't know, can't really explain (I can, but I'm lazy to make over 9000 lines of text), but I just don't think this idea is potent. Seems having too much flaws to me.

But since I'm too lazy to write out how a server works and since I don't wanna make theories, I'm just gonna say +1/-1 ... 0.

well, i know that there will be some minor flaws along with the first contacts between the players and this system, but it can solve pretty much everyone's problems with "lag", since they're going to host the games at their own computers, making them like, little encounter points for the information that needs to be sended to the servers, so, people will play at a smaller pings, BUT the host have to have a good ISP, preferably a broadband high speed internet to support a full 8x8 game.

You can notice that when hosting at the player's connection, the distance is lessened, so it's a gain to the servers (less pressure on them).
It's not going to be applied to every server, only a few ones, also, this would split people who live close to eachother, making BR's play with BR's, and so on.
