i think it's your antivirus that changed the HGWC file cuz it has detected a virus in HGWC try to disable your antivirus and reinstall and try to find a like "ignore file button on your antivirus like i have (i got avira and it's working great).

I'm getting the same error after 5 minutes of play. The thing is that i've just formatted the computer, no antivirus installed, no firewall working, the only thing I've installed are Firefox, Winrar, BSPlayer and Crossfire. This is very strange and shows that all solutions of deactivating firewall are just useless...

Ok, found the problem. I've formatted but kept the original Crossfire, uninstalled it and installed over it. That's not the way to solve it. We should do a clean install of crossfire (that means uninstall it, restart, delete Crossfire folder, registry clean with CClean, restart, install crossfire with firewall off, make updates), after that we can play with firewall on
