Ping problem

Hi guys... I don't know, but when I played like 5 months ago my ping was 80 on canadian and west coastservers, and 28 on south server, then my ping went up to 100, and when I'm playing on CF the ping show me 150 within three different servers, but if I do tracert to the server, it says 100, how can I fix that?

    Yea, I have recently been getting getting ping problems for no apparent reason. Ever since the begging of Crossfire my ping has never gone above 96 but now I can sometimes see it fli.cker.ing around 800 and then shooting back down to normal. What the hell is going on?! So, I ran some tracers to the servers as well, but the results were inconclusive due to the fact that my tracer started going extremely slow after about 10 jumps. All of the requests after that were timed out. Since, were both having this problem it's either:
    1) Our specific settings are wrong (antivirus, firewalls, router).

    or

    2) Crossfires servers are having problems receiving our packets and sending them back
    (This is known as ping - the time it takes for the packet to be sent AND returned by the server in the other side)

    So, if your ping is 100. It is taking 100 milliseconds for the packet to reach their server and get received back to your connection.

    If your isp is telus they recently acquired a block of ip addresses that was previously assigned to UK. Telus isp tells me It is a problem with content providers not updating their geographical IP address (GeoIP) databases frequently enough. I do notice that in alpha server my ping has only increased from 80ms- 84ms. The problem is i am in BC Canada and now when i connect to west coast server my ping is 150ms where it used to be 60ms. Basicly most of my games see my ip address as being from the UK making high ping times and rendering play laggy. I will be switching to shaw.
