Subscription Service?
Just hear me out, please.
I won't be doing any bashing here, I promise.
I know, Z8 you're probably tired of this but...would this help the issue with the hackers?
Thinking about it, and my own habits with purchasing ZP, wouldn't you have a more stable income from providing a subscribe-to-play game? I just wonder if maybe money is a big problem.
I'm one of those people that thinks temp items are a waste of money and I won't buy them because of that. So, I only purchase ZP when I want a new gun or for a character, making it a very rare thing for me to do. Now, think of how many other CF players are possibly the same way?
I imagine the cost of running servers, internet space, paying employees and dealing with Xtrap isn't cheap.
Now, wouldn't a steady income from a subscription service maybe help with that? I think it would be worth a try. However, if you wanted to keep it free-to-play you could also add a side-subscription(much like they have on Mabinogi from Nexon.) Maybe offer some special items, extra GP and EXP gain...heck you could throw a ribbon in there that stays as long as that user is a subscriber! Then maybe some fixes would be easier to deal with.
Though, it could also be that perhaps you can't get rid of X-Trap because of the original owners not allowing you to over some legal issues, and at that point I suppose that we are stuck since I take it X-Trap isn't from an English speaking country.
Honestly, CrossFire has got to be my favorite game. I've got loads of other games I COULD be playing instead, but despite the hacking issues I can't help myself from coming back. And I've met others who feel the same way.
Thank you for listening!

I understand your point of view but this isn't a good idea and the majority of players would leave (I certainly would, I don't mind paying every now and then for ZP but I'm not going to pay per month to play) One of the things I like about CF is that paying players don't have a HUGE advantage over other players, you can spend money on certain things like Body Armour or Helmets but they barely make a difference at all. A GP player, if he plays enough, can get enough good equipment with all the new features they've added without having to put a penny into the game. This means that I can play it and if I'm not doing so well financially in a month I can still enjoy the game without feeling like I have a disadvantage against ZP players.
Other F2P games put me off with the fact they take away many of the things that come standard in shooter games. I like CA but with money you can buy characters with grenade launchers and portable turrets that will annihilate the majority of players easily, not to mention medikits and stuff. Other games like Project Blackout won't even let you pick up guns lying on the floor without buying a powerup for cash. -

Both have valid points.
But I'm going to have to say I agree with Jblade. Although it would be nice for z8games to have a stable income, instead on relying on us to buy zeepee once every week, month or year.
This is a 'Free to Play' game and should stay a 'Free to Play' game. Changing it would lose a lot of valuable players imo.
As for the X-trap issue. I don't think money is the problem. I honestly think it's just X-trap taking it's sweet time to find and then patch the hacks.
In all in all, z8games shouldn't change a thing. X-trap is what needs the change. -

yea paying to play the game... i wont be here if that ever happens! i never played a subscription game and never will its jsut a rip off. I but zp when i have money.. sometimes that will be several times a week some times i wont buy it for months.. (student what do you expect)
but like that guy said we are not the only income for them.
(you also gotta think that metin 2 brings them income too :P ) -
Yeah that's because i only mentioned CFGh0st_Slay3r wrote: »he isnt normal leave him alone

Metin2 brings the same or even more money than CF
Some people don't get the meaning of a game being F2P -
subscribe-to-play, I would quit in a heart beat. No way in hell im going to pay a monthly fee to play a game, that's not that great, when there's games out there like Bad company 2, COD, Crysis2 coming out march 22nd. Even tough, with z8's upkeep to this game and the way they do treat their customers it looks like it going to come to that for myself.

You all have very good points.
I thought I'd at least try with the suggestion and see what others thought. These are some sides I've seen and I've considered that money may not be the issue, but there's no way of actually knowing since the users don't get to see Z8's bills.
As for subscribe-to-play that's why I had also suggested that there could be a different subscription as well if you had missed that part (some of you may have, some haven't.)
With a side subscription too, even if they put some things in for looks maybe they could get away with it without badly affecting other's game play. I should have been more specific but what I meant on the items, putting "special" in front of it changed the meaning I realize, were items we already have in game. You can buy helms and such that give extra exp for for a GP charge, for example.
So, lets say you decide to pay a $10-$15 sub to Z8 once a month, you get a ribbon for your profile, 10% exp gain, 10% GP gain, maybe a temp gun, a temp axe and maybe a special showy backpack or hat to show you donate? I mean items like that.
Most of the items you'd be able to get if you paid them money anyway, so in the end its not too much different than buying ZP whenever you feel up to it. BUT even so you could just buy what you wanted when you wanted with ZP instead of subscribing.
Anyway, thanks for the input. It felt like a good idea, still might be, but you guys are right: they may lose players over it too(and the ones they lose will probably be the legit players.) So, it may be a bad idea in the end.
