It's happening in other places because they seen the Egyptians do it so now they think they will get the same results that the Egyptians did.
2012 is a bunch of bs. These people make all these doomsday dates and they're always wrong. As soon as they get one wrong they take some other random year and say the worlds going to end. Then there's these people who say something about the Mayan calender. The calender does not say anything about the world ending. Plus who would believe something a bunch of uneducated Mayans would say? Only bad thing about 2012 is the terrible movie made about it.

If your talking about the mayan thing they already Said they may be off by 50 years at the beginning of this year. The mayans didnt even prophecize that scientist did. Maybe they ran out of room or just forgot to finish it. I dont believe it anyway. Remember 666

The calender marks a new era at 2012, and the Mayans are probably more educated than you.
Or maybe you can predict eclipses 2000 years in the future by looking at stars? -
