'Karma' Not this thread again...
Okay, so we have all noticed the forums have been a bit crazy lately.
We also know that this is due to the current ribbon 'Military Intelligence'. Yes I do understand that when it comes to free stuff, you'll do whatever you want to get it amirite?.
And here we are... Players going crazy, posting random crap. Well in a more suitable term 'spam'.
We also know that this ribbon was a complete joke from the get go.. due to z8games changing the required post counts from 500? to 250 down to 25.
My point is..if we had a karma system this ribbon wouldn't of been easily abused like it was.
To newcomers and to the misinformed. The Karma system is one of the best systems to have in a forum when you want a community to be a contributing, helpful-friendly environment.
Like post counts you get 'Karma points' but in order to receive a 'Karma point' from another forumer you must make 'Helpful' and 'mature' posts.
Pros: 1. Faster and more helpful replies.
2. Community will look more 'mature', I mean just look at the posts and threads now ( no affence).
3. Future forum related ribbons will be less messy. Link to number of 'Karma points' rather than post counts.
4. Trolls and spammers might be fighting for their lives. Who likes people with '0 Karma points' loool. I keed.
idk.5. Lead to better discussions, rather than having MODs close almost every 'good' thread' due to a troll trolling spammers/normal people or a flamer having a bad day.
Cons: 1. Might be abused by people who have 'cliques' such as only giving Karma to your friends.
2. Nobody likes wannabe MODs <----Loool. But yeah everyone will try to act perfect to get them desired 'Karma points'. -It happens- (at least their posts will be helpful)
3. ????
And my question is... why has this been suggested so many times, yet here is another?

The main problem at this time for the karma system is making sure its not farmed or abused. The normal way of karma is just too readily available for anyone and their alts to click that + button to give them rep. Not exactly a good way to reward such.
The recent forum spam was not due to a ridiculous ribbon, but immature forumers. Had this community had a better foundation such would never be an issue.
We are hopefully working towards such. -

But there could be ways to prevent the abuse. Why do other forums use this system? Why can't we. Post counts is easily abused as well. As you can see.
The ribbon was the cause of this traffic of spam. How did these spammers get here?

That's complete bull. If it wasn't for that ribbon, we wouldn't have all these new people coming in and spamming up the forums. You would think it was a simple concept that if you added something like that, it wouldn't be abused. Now, they brought out a ribbon for people who farm or have played for a long time. I realize they are just trying to make it hard, but come on...make it so you can't farm it. -

Exactly, but it's hard to implement a system which stops farmers. Though when you think about it more. There are a few ways to stop them.
I just don't understand, there are so many great ideas that have been suggested. Yet nothing gets noticed. The DEVS and z8 really need to start listening to their customers.

But, I have an idea about how this system could work.
Okay, MODs and GMs should be the only ones allowed to give out karma points. After like 50+ (just use a high number) Karma, the player is allowed to give Karma to others as long as the post is reviewed by a MOD and/or GM.

Yes, I agree but there are many people who can not speak English (like me) and too lazy to go to Google translator to read all the topics I'm seeing for example how the forum is important for the social environment for players and patrons of site, so many people even knew the content would have this part of the site.

Give karma power only to mods, so they can rate the forummers by posts (each post will have a +1 or a -1 button, wich should only appear to MOD's) So, it cannot be abused/farmed.

That's more work for the mods. And really are mods even on that much to rate peoples posts?
Good idea though. And selecting mods would be easier.
