Yes the pistols count... But i think if you have more than one it only counts once... 18 ribbons!!!!

To clear everything up.. Only knife, axe, any nade, and any limited time weapons do not count. To clear something else up, yes multiple weapons do count which means you can more than one M9 but through my experience you can only buy up to 6 of one weapon.
