So I just got the...
Xai SteelSeries mouse, and it's amazing
Very light, glides amazingly along almost any surface (I tried a crappy mousepad, bare desk, and then the SteelSeries mousepad).
The only downside that I can think of is the 1mm track height, if that's what it's called. I used a small, basic logitech before this one, but it didn't have that much track height so I'm not used to my mouse going everywhere when I pick it up to put it back in the center of the mousepad.
It fits perfectly in my hand. My logitech was a bit on the small side, but I adapted to this one after a few TD matches. Not totally used to it yet, though.
I had to find a new mouse accelertation fix because the one I was using didn't affect this one at all. It doesn't work as well as the last one, but as long as it doesn't shake too bad I'm alright.
All in all, a great mouse well worth the $60 I spent on it. I rate it 8.5/10 just because I'm not used to the size and track height. If it wasn't my first "professional" mouse, I'm sure it'd be a 10/10.

Razer Abyssus $40 mouse, it's a great little mouse.
And I think I have a steelseries mouse pad. -
Just wondering, but how much does a good mouse affect gameplay? I'm using a $25 generic Microsoft mouse with left click, right click, and a scroll wheel.
Very little, but will make a slightly noticeable difference, when you get very high up the skill ladder. I think.
Ultimately it's the skill of the player and what he/she is used to.
