I can approve because i test a lot this weapons and i can detail more (best of the best):
run & shotting (big arenas, no good spots, few players, lot of noobs) > Thompson;
camping with some movement if needed (all maps and occasions) > RPK;
Just camping (good spot with other players to assist) > Gatling gun.

I personal use RPK Gold almost all times and Thompson if i get the above conditions.
Before i have RPK Gold i used Thompson instead RPK normal (few difference of bullets and Thompson is more practical, excellent weapon to back off mutant to a large distance, mp5 doesn't compare). If u dont have RPK Gold/Camo or Thompson i would advise to buy RPK or M60 and play in maps with good camping spots, other tactic wont get u too much points, u just be a annoying runner.

m60 advance is good

but if you some how have a Gatling gun go find a corner and partner up with a guy that has a mg so you can reload ^_^v
thats the only way MM is fun not blocking
