Computer Recommendations ?
So, Ive just gotten into Stuyvesant(this really good school in NYC), and Im buying a laptop for myself. So far I have chosen:
Dell XPS 15
Processor:Intel® Core™ i5-560M (2.66GHz, 4 threads, turbo boost up to 3.2GHz, 3M cache)
OS: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 420M 1GB graphics with Optimus and TV Tuner
Memory: 6GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory
HD: 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
Battery: 92 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Keyboard: Backlit Keyboard - English
Buetooth: Bluetooth 2.0
Any things I should change or edit?
Much appreciated
I'm not worrying about the programs as I can just torrent them later.
So far, this costs 1100$.
Thanks

As much as I dislike pre-built anythings, I love the XPS15, it'll rape CF on full settings, and you should get a decent fps on Crysis max settings.
Though if you're willing to go desktop, you could build something equivalent for half the price, and more power. -
prebuilt. LOL, i dont have much skill in making my own laptops.1of300sparta wrote: »wait your buying this prebuilt? or building ur self (pro btw)
depends if your gunna use this for school, or gaming.
I need a laptop. For schoolwork and for some light gaming (CF&L4D2)CookieMunzta wrote: »As much as I dislike pre-built anythings, I love the XPS15, it'll rape CF on full settings, and you should get a decent fps on Crysis max settings.

Also, should i get the 720 pi or 1080 pi screen? -

It'll handle both of those no problem.
Is it 1080i or 1080p? Because 1080i is pretty much equivalent to 720p. If that's the case, the 720p would probably be cheaper, I guess.
The only downsides I'd say to this particular laptop, would be the weight (roughly 3kgs). It tends to pretty warm too. -
Im considering getting a cooling stand for it. And yeah, its would be approximately 6 lbs.CookieMunzta wrote: »It'll handle both of those no problem.

UPDATE: The screen is 720i or 1080i.
The 1080i is 195$ more, but everyone is saying its one of the best things of this laptop.
Also, if you guys could, because I know nothing about computers, could you somehow give me specs that would cost around 1100$ but still be excellent?
Please, and Thank You

It'd depend who/where you'd buy the parts from.
Me, I'd build you something AMD equivalent, with more CPU and GPU power, for roughly £325-£375 ($550-$600) exc. commission.
But since I'm all the way in England, try NewEgg or TigerDirect.
I'll help you pick out any parts you'd need, if you like. -

Well, that would be excellent. I also need it to be portable, as I would be lugging it around the train everyday.
And yes, I would be delighted if you would be able to help me

Sorry, not a big fan of Toshiba. :O and truthfully, gaming is the least of my worries. I'm putting in all of my money and I need it to last until college.I_LoveTheUSA wrote: »Toshiba A505-S6033, buy this. I get 70-100 fps in cf 8v8, 60-100 fps in left 4 dead 2 at medium video setting, and 50-80 fps in Dead Space 2 at medium video setting. And it only 800 dollars at best buy.
I was thinking of using XP on it.Windows 7 fails at handling games. -

Your making one of the biggest mistakes of your life, Toshiba is the best brand out there. My family have been using laptops from toshiba all our lives and we rarely have to send our laptops to get it fixed. Gotta trust me on this. -
