Basically it boils down to this:
Yes, you can have 1500 FPS. But, you will only see it at whatever FPS your monitor can display.
However, your information relay to the server will still be quite a bit faster than those of, say, a 30 FPS machine. Have a player with 1200 FPS run forward in a straight line with a knife. Have a player with 18 FPS run forward in a straight line with a knife, side by side. After about 5 seconds, the player with 1200 FPS will be noticeably further ahead. So it's exceptionally useful in the informational relay regard, if not in terms of visual lag.
