  • Whoa whoa dude, calm down. Why don't you try moving, then? :D Buy a new computer and get a different company for your internet. Try that, and if it still doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you bro.
  • Have a look here http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=52076

EDIT: I see you tried that already. DO you have another pc at your house you can install the game on. Doesnt have to be a great one...just able to see if it will work. You may have to completely uninstall the game....clean your registry..then download the game via the torrents.
  • Do what the man ^ said.

Sounds more like a networking thing, try running it without a router in the way.
  • I feel your pain. I went thru a similar situation. I had to download CF and install it several times to get it to work. What worked for me was installing it with my AV off. After installing it I exited the installer without running the game. I went ahead and added CF to my AV and firewall exceptions. I right clicked on the CF shortcut on my desktop and checked the boxes to run as administrator (under advanced options) and Windows XP compatibility mode. I rebooted my comp and then tried running the game. Not sure why or how but that got it to work.
  • This is weird.. I can get it to work... sometimes.

    heres what happens:
    1. I start CF.. At about 73-83% It gives me "Socket Error : W[2000] L[10053]"
    2. I Restart CF and it runs. but it takes about 10-15 to get to the login screen
    3. I login and the sound is really clicky and distorted. It goes away after about 20-30 minutes of playing.
    4. I quit.
    5. I go to play CF again and again, at 73-83% it gives me the error again..

    And so on.
My Computer is so messed up.
  • I am no pc pro but a socket error(?). A socket is where I would fit the actual processor of the pc, the memory chip, graphics processor chip or other hardware. I would demount graphics card and memory card from their slots and remount them again. I would guess that u might have oxide on the connectors. I have a HP pc and a couple a times per year the PC gives me a boot error beep due to bad connection with the memory slots. Might work for you to demount these card and reinstall them and maybe even to get updated drivers. Dont mess around inside your pc ifyou do not have any experience on how to do this.

    Good luck

sounds about right. i received socket errors after installing my new GPU a few months ago
however, i think its strange he does not receive this error message straight away after or before booting the system

I have had GPU problems that only showed up during use of 3D-rendering (playing games), problems that didnt result in error reports during regular use.

Memory mapping is a thing I have never understood that well but is software dependent. The case might be that when loading CF the programme calls for a certain ammount of allocated memory space and since the OS and all other running programs already are "stealing" space causes CF to call for access of the memory or procesor space on GPU or PC RAM that are not responding correctly - being damaged or just not "connected". I would still try to demount memory and GPU and remount.
  • Find the name of the company along with a model or serial number. Go to the companies page and see if they have an update.
  • My computer is so old xD.. Most of my hardware that needs a updated the websites dont have updates available for my stuff. I litterally have to buy a new computer now. lol
