Ping Problems
Hi everyone.
I have a little problem. I play on the West Coast server, and that is the only place I play. 3 Days ago my ping was 190. 2Days ago it was 210, yesterday it was 230, and now it is 270. Is there a cause for this on the servers part, because I have heard other people complain that their ping went from 130 to 210 and other things like that. I am going to check out if there are any possible causes on my part, but nothing new has happened here.
Thanks.

It doesnt have to be problem on the server..
First thing you should try is tracert 74.200.6.157 in command line..
I believe that is the ip of west coast, so it should show you which way you are routing to the server, mostly this is the thing which is wrong..
If so, there is not much you can do about..
Anyway yeah, it can be the problem on the server too, i experienced it once as well, but patch fixed it for me.. -
BR's are ugly enough... A warewolf version would be something to barf at.
But seriously, it must be something on the crossfire/z8games/smilegate/xtrap/etc. side that's causing this transformation... Crossfire used to be cool and awesome... Not so much when 80% of players are foregin and this night time ping spikes. -
Uk1-121
uk2-180
uk3-220
uk4-170
uk5-130
Now tell me pls that is my fault...

You should also try that tracert command ive written above:
tracert 149.7.36.237 for UK1..
Mine looks like this (sorry for czech, its system output):C:\Users\Administrator>tracert 149.7.36.237

14 48 ms 47 ms 47 ms 149.7.36.237
As you can see, i have 47, thats my regular UK ping.. If you have those huge numbers (about 200) in tracert output, that means your routing to server is bad, in reality it means this:
Anyway if your routing is good and with quick response, problem can be on server side too.. -
So, let me ask this to everyone on this thread. What kind of internet are you guys using? DSL or cable? If your using DSL the problem is with your ISP. Lots of DSL users are having bandwidth problems all over the place. While a tracert (a.k.a. Trace Route) is a good test to indentify trouble spots run ping -t to see how "stable" your connection is at that address.

maybe because servers are overloaded -

Can be, but really, mostly the real problem is in the unsufficient connection..hdpredator wrote: »So, let me ask this to everyone on this thread. What kind of internet are you guys using? DSL or cable?
I have a DSL, but my connection is fine

Sorry for double post, as you can see your problems starts with 9th hop..
And if you want to have some fun watching which way your "signal" goes, you can try to put IPs of routers (on the end of each line) to this site: http://en.utrace.de/..
All you can do is contact your ISP if he is able to do something with it (mine ISP didnt helped when i requested while having this problem long time ago) or just wait, it can fix itself in a time
