computer help

i have a compaq pc
but recently its been shutting down and beeping. i googled it and it said that those beeps mean something. sort of like a code.

it does 1 short beep, 1 long beep, then stops and repeats.

any help?

umm just send it to local computer fixer person.. lol they will help you more then this because if your not experienced you can really mess up your computer.

ive checked the steps to fix it but it doesn't show this code (1 short and 1 long beep) so thats why I'm asking. some say to fix the RAM (idk how) others say something about the video card...but im not sure what to do.

no it wont. it shuts down at any random moment which is really annoying.

oo my friend has this problem ...umm if it's ram that will cost you money and sound card no i DOUBT it has to do with anything, his was well the computer would think he turned off the computer in simple words.

nope. it has something to do with the things inside the computer...but i dont know what

Ok where all the USB ports are on the back is there a second Video plug for a monitor, that is not on the same card your using now?

heres a picture

had 2 gb of ram but i took 1 out to see if it was broken. if i dont shutdown anymore then that might of been it.

put the ram back, just because your comp needs it.

Sounds like your RAM has died. Do you have more than one stick? If so Remove one and start your computer if the same problem occurs switch the stick with the other one and try again.

yeah i took 1 out about half an hour ago. if it doesnt shutdown in days then that might of been the problem..

will my computer be slower in games or whatever if i take it out?

Yes with Win7 you kinda need 2g. Bring the "broken" chip down to your local PC shop a replacement should cost that much. They can also tell you if it is that chip or not.

Yes 4 is better but 2 is minimum.
