They shouldn't be playing this game in the first place.

Why not? Anyone can play if they want to, since it's a INTERNATIONAL F2P game!

True, but even for downloading and registering and stuff there is some basic level of English needed.. How can they pass this when they cant say even simpliest things like "hi" in the game?

=> the same reason i am not playing chinese version xD
  • Is this suggestion a way to improve communication between players from different cultures ? I don't think so.

Is this suggestion a way to let people that speak english, understand what the heck other people, not willing to make the extra effort, are saying ? Yes.

Seriously, one of the most unnerving thing in CF is to see your name in the middle of a sentence in a language you don't understand. You're like : "Are they just QQing, or are they trying to get me kicked ?".

Or they could just update the filter and include an insane amount of words including foreign words and any filter bypass of those words. If updating the filter is easy, making the list can be done quickly.
Or they could enforce the rules and punish people not speaking english in the public chat. Of course we'll need a way to save the chat log just as we save replays for that one (maybe including chat log in replays).
  • We shouldn't need a in-game translator if only half of the people who play could speak English. Guess NA/Canada/UK means nothing anymore :(
    P.S. 999 @___@

There are other versions of this game. Other people can go play their.

This is the NA/UK version. Which consists of mostly English speaking people.

    LOL
    lies .
  • lols i was in room full of amigos earlier all i gt wa hola mikey amigo
  • And ive just been called a Turk because my ping trippled for some reason in one single game.. And only language i was speaking was English :D
  • NA + UK = Ingrish. :D

Not Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, German, etc. . .

    Incorrect;
    Definition of culture:
The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization or group. To put it simply culture is a way of life.

So no its not to improve communication between cultures, because cultures have nothing to do with this.

Correct, seeing as this is a US/UK game intended for English speaking players, I do not think it is necessary to translate every other language to the players main language because they decided to play this F2P - that's not a problem but since it was intended for English speaking players I think we should understand what everyone is saying. Unless of course they decide to ban users who do not live within the US/UK from playing.

Well that would not work, because not everything can be translated perfectly e.g.
    - Hello my name is bob and I am a builder.
    - Hello my name bob ve ben bir inşaatçı duyuyorum. (Turkish translation)

For those that do not understand my point proven above ill explain, when something from xlanguage get translated to x2language the ordering of words change. Also you notice English version has 10 words in the sentence whereas the Turkish translation has 9.

Therefore your idea will not work. It will require a proper translation system that understands grammar etc like the translator on google.

I don't need a definition of the word culture, I used it to generalize. Besides, languages are an important part of cultures. But let's stop digressing.

You absolutely didn't understand my idea. Let's take your exemple, a turk player too lazy to speak english tries to type your sentence (even though it means nothing it seems) :
    - Hello my name bob ve ben bir inşaatçı duyuyorum.

In the public chat, it will appear as this :
    - Hello my name bob ?? ??? ??? ???????? ?????????.

Every word in the public chat recognized as a word in a foreign language is filtered. We don't care about the grammar or whatever.
    amigo > ?????
    friend > friend
    arkadaş > ???????

This was my idea, but, of course, it will never be implemented.
