BR ping calculation
So, I decided to do a research about why BR's lag so much... there is a common belief that BRs have such high pings because they are far away from the servers... so I decided to calculate distances from servers and see how it affects the ping...
I will start out saying that I live in Atlanta, Georgia, playing on a UK server I usually get about 90 ping... the distance from Atlanta, GA to London, UK is 4207 miles or 6770 km... the distance from Sao Paulo, BR to Toronto, Ontario is 5093 miles or 8195 km... an average BR player is 21% farther away from a NA server than I am from a UK server... with my 90 UK ping, a 21% increase in ping (assuming the same connection speed) should result in an equivalent 108.9 ping... so rounding up... if BRs would have similar connection speed, they should be able to play on NA servers with 110 or so ping... however everyone knows that's not the case and BRs usually have 250+ pings, which is more than twice what I should be getting at that distance... and my connection is not all that great to be honest...
so the MYTH IS BUSTED... the only logical conclusion is that BRs lag not because they are so far away from the server, but because their connection is terrible... all things being the same, their ping should be in the lower 100's and not in the upper 200's...
P.S. if this violates any forum rules, please delete the post, I don't mean to flame BRs... just want to share some of my calculations with people...

I live in Belgium, 201,5 miles or 325 km away from the UK server, I have 10-20 ping. The average BR lives about 2421% further away from NA servers than I am from UK servers.
Even if I take the lowest of my pings, it would bring the BRs to 252 ping. My highest ping would result in a whopping 504 ping.
Sounds about right.... -

You should be able to get 150 ping.
i wish!!!! im trying to get the best internet here isnt avaliable for all there is only a few ppl
that can get it (max 8mb).
my pings is 200 on US server, 230~250 on NA servers(alpha, bravo, charlie, echo,)
uk 280~310.
i only play on alpha. -
well when start to play this didnt knew about lag/latency stuff.
and now i cant stop
i tried then 1 mounth later i came back.
arrg double post sorry
Ahh I understand, but meh, I hate playing with 180 in Alpha, Bravo, etc, but meh, it's playable, just harder to snipe. -
You guys do know that the internet distance is not a straight line, right? Here is a little glimpse into why ping is so different. South America doesn't have a very good backbone. You could wire up an internet cafe with fiber optic cables and switches running 1 Gbps on each port and it does you no good if all you have for a backbone is a T-1.

This has all been previously discussed. -

and thats why i play gm only if do pp a ghost breath correctly he is dead
but low pingers always pwn me
.
anyway its just to have some fun. -
Why do I get around 50-100 ping?
If your using wifi than that is why your ping is around the 50 a 100
or you only got around 1 mbits internet speed
or some programme in the background is sucking up the speed
I suggest you scan your pc with malwarebytes!
