mouse sluggishness

so ive played many other fps games and in pretty much all of them the aiming has felt fine, the only game that feels comparable is cs 1.6 with vsync on, it makes the mouse feel really sluggish and laggy, this is exactly the feeling i get in crossfire.. does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? ive tried shutting off vsync in my ati catalyst but it didnt change anything, and there is no way to force vsync off that i know of in the crossfire program itself.. im not even 100% sure its vsync that is causing it, just seems like the most likely culprit.
