"Spanish" specifically refers to spain. So a spanish person is someone from spain.

Now there are two types of hispanics, Spaniards (Spain) and Latin Americans

The word Hispanic originally refers to Spain, but it got extended to all of Spain's colonies, so now anyone who lives in Spanish-Speaking countries is hispanic.
