How to be Pro in Ghost Mode
Greetings Fellow CF Players!
I have created this thread to discuss several methods put into practice in ghost mode. The most important being PINPOINTING. Those familiar with the method are no doubt accused of hacking. I am consistently, and often by veteran players. Perhaps this thread will help even the playing field for both veteran and new players.
Ghosts are visible while in motion with exception to a method known as b-hopping. As a dead ghost you have surely witnessed veteran players perform the method. While remaining crouched you jump all the while moving forward. Moving at a slow pace is easy, moving fast can be tricky. Even the slightest motion out of sync and you character will become visible to the enemy. Given that you can see your character you are made aware of your mistake and can practice to eliminate them entirely. Unfortunately, b-hopping can very challenging to master and doesn't guaranty you will never be found.
Another aspect of being a ghost exists. Ghosts project a breathing sound to both themselves and the enemy. Believe it or not this sound alone can be used to determine a ghosts position. Using headphones, a user can determine which side (right or left) a ghost has positioned itself relative to the user. If the ghost is to the right of you, your right ear will hear the breath of the ghost. If the ghost is to the left of you, your left ear will hear the ghost. Suppose you stood along a street, waiting for a car to drive by with your eyes closed. Could you determine the direction the car was traveling by listening to it? Finding ghosts with your ears is very similar.
Start of by playing a game with a couple friends. Position yourself directly in front of a ghost with the cross hairs of your weapon aimed at them to start. Side step side to side several times. Does the sound of breathing switch from ear to ear? The key to determining a line of sight for a ghost is honing in on the moment the sound switches from one ear to the other. It is important that your headphones be on properly for this to work (right headphone is on your right ear, etc.). It's also important you understand that you will only have a line of sight and have eliminated only 1 dimension of uncertainty. A ghost may be on a ledge or upper level, not directly in front of you.
As a ghost facing a team full of pinpointers can be challenging. There does exist an advantage to being aware of your breathe happy character. Strategically surrounding yourself with fellow ghosts can leave a pinpointer clueless. This is because he will not only hear just you, but your fellow ghosts as well making pinpointing nearly impossible or very time consuming. Furthermore, breath down is a must have for the experience player. This gives you a great advantage by allowing your presence to remain anonymous until the enemy is within striking range. Position a breath down ghost in front of a black list player. A ghost will be able to run and strike undetected, but only when a BL player is in full stride. Last but not least, b-hopping will also make pinpointing difficult as the object in question is in motion.
To close this tutorial, I would like to mention that pinpointing is not just used in ghost mode. It becomes very important as a black list player is left to his ears to find his opponent in ghost mode. However, opponents on all modes can be pinpointed through use of their steps while running as they emit sound to everyone. Giving you the advantage by being aware of their general location. The same goes for gun fire or any other sound emitting acts.
*cough* falling from a high ledge *cough*
I would like to gage some interest in perhaps a video tutorial. Let me know what you guys think.

I found this topic describing GM interesting, and thought meh, most on the forums already know all this, but it might help some people. Was about to give you + 1

And I cried a little on the inside. -
1. every time i kill a ghost after i hear it, i am called a haker.
2. it seems all ghosthunters know to use pinpoint, and most (if not all) of the ghosts don't know that they breathe and, after they are kiled, they cry that they didn't move
3. i think that ghosts are too advantaged: they can buy armor, low breathe, low noise of steps, fall down reducer, axe/shovel/katana -
I cried too =/Max_Skillz wrote: »I found this topic describing GM interesting, and thought meh, most on the forums already know all this, but it might help some people. Was about to give you + 1

Actually, I forgot about the guides section. It's that sub forum that kind of gets missed. =(
Any how, I can now officially point people in game to this post. I'll try and look into some programs that allow me to record my screen and voice. The only problem is that they tend to bog your computer down and make your FPS get REALLY bad if you record a decent quality video.
As far as being pro, all that's necessary is b-hopping and a knife but you will be heard. That's the only down side. -

I second this -
Based on the two matches I played this morning, I think you are right. Even I hack. LOLSooperPickle wrote: »There are no pro GMers, they all hack
At least that's what I was told when I killed 3 ghosts in a row with a shotgun. Must be that new shotgun hack where I fire at ghosts and it kills them.
