Modding. Illegal?

So ive seen plenty of videos with people's modded killmarks and I was wondering whether that was legal or not. it seems like it should be, its not giving any kind of advantage, just fun. And yes im going somewhere with this but I want to know if its legal or not first :P

Considering that a game MOD (BlindRob) makes his own, and distributes them publicly, I would say they are legal.

Half of the players would be banned if it was illegal, me inclusive.
The only things you are not allowed to change, is the .rez stuff.

Okay. Well this is wierd, but I modded a spray in place of my "C4 here" one. It looks exactly like the picture next to my name with the phoenix. I logged in and used it once, and now 2 other people have in two separate matches. I asked one of them and they said it was from BM, like you would get a normal spray. Did I screw up the entire game?

No, they see it as the original one. You see all of them as your own. Your not adding your own personal spray, just changing how you see them.
