Random huge ping spikes
Has anyone else been getting these random huge(900-8000) ping spike's and server disconnect message's lately? Just started like a few days ago, but is starting to really annot me. And before anyone say's it, no it's not anything to do with my ISP. It's strange cause one day it's fine then next it's FUBARED. One other thing does anyone know any tricks to getting a S2 for the CROSSFIRE crate's? Been trying since November 12 to get S2 and now it January 17, what is the deal? Haven't missed a single day's mission either. I mean yes it's sposed to not be easy but hell 3 months is extreme I think.

Well if you are using WiFi then spikes are always going to happen.. They spike bigger if they're further from the WiFi and if other people are using the same connection. Best way to lower any spikes is to use a ethernet cable straight to your computer/laptop. Believe me I tried it before, and it made a huge difference in game-play.

Well thanks for the imput but have been gaming on my wireless connection before 2005 and yes at times there have been some issue's but never anything like this. And I am the only person in detection range that is running a N-band router(Because had issue's in the past with interference from other's on a G-band router). Normally I ping around 50-90 average but when it's messing up I ping around 140-190 with spikes upto 8000+. I have never seen this happen before and it only happens in Crossfire.

It's definetly the x-mas patch then. I've been having the same issue lately where my ping would jump spike to 200 then back down to 90 when it's usually at 80.. Then at night time, it jumps to 200+ and stays there till like 1 am even tho there's not as many people on during the night as during the day...So in-game traffic isn't the result of the lag... Must be something to do with the crossfire servers or a bad script.

well i have double ping at all uk servers since early december patch -.-" but spikes like those never had it. just sometimes at n8 from 55 - 70 to 120 - 300 ping. normal ping before decembre patch was 35 - 42.
ping at all other servers still the same 130 - 140. like before patch. -

S2 is not a gun, it's the 2nd S in the CROSS FIRE name for the free crate's. I was wondering something like that, don't know if it's even possable but thought maybe they were doing some kind of scans for hacker's. -

Funny you should metion that cause when I used a G router I had a 14dB antenna that had a 2 mile range and when my interrnet would go out would pirate off others unsecured networks. But when the issue is present I have checked for others accesssing my router and have not seen any other MAC's present. -

what the kid meant was S2 is the Dogtag one gets for the missions, and he wants to complete a mission and recieve the S2 dogtag for the 5x DEscope crates for completion of the CROSSFIRE set.
And to answer OP's question about it, there ain't any tricks, its like the black market crate system, its random... just get lucky, keep it diverse the missions you play (like dont keep doing the ESC mission just cause its this month's mission) -
Crossfire Problems
I started playing CF in the Summer of '10 (MM update). Everything worked perfectly back then.
Then they added the Escape Mode update, it started to crash, disconnect, and lag like hell. It's still a problem now, 4-5 updates later. Why can't they put the fixes in the patches?

well i do get last letter of crossfire rarely too ... it would be much better when normal "S" or "R" count for every R. also when u got R and u have already one highlighted second one should be highlighted. R1R2 S1S2 makes it hard to get. on another point i don;t really care about dogtag. well 500gp daily is good enough. and 1000exp after 5 missions do it well too.

Yeah I noticed that the HUGE lagging issues have been occuring in the regular servers (alpha-Echo). However the West and the South servers don't have the same ping. I tried the West server and had 95 ping which is a bit on the high side for me but it still plays heck of a lot better than 200+ ping at night in the normal servers.
So until z8games finds a solution, try the west and south servers, you'll have a better playable ping at night there.
