The NEW $250 build.
Was slightly over budget on this one. (20 dollars once you included shipping but there was a 15 dollar rebate.)
Even so it is a step up in performance over my previous 250 dollar build.
Let's make this a contest. Who can build the strongest PC under or close to 250 dollars. OS is not required.

Actually it was the cheapest 2gb of DDR3 that wasn't off-brand I could find. I was using the lo-hi price scale.
I'm pretty sure the 350 watt in that case could support the components here. Second opinion? -

If you wanna lower the price a bit, you could try Amazon.
Honestly no reason. The goal was 250. thats 255 with rebate. Even if I reduce it by a few bucks it wouldn't be needed.
Seriously though second opinion on that PSU? -

350w should be fine, 450w would be more ideal if you're looking for hours-on-end gaming, but as long as your room isn't massively warm, it should be fine. Do you know how big the fan is?
Are you using a previous PC's optical on this one? -

Yes, all parts not listed are assumed ripped from another pc.
Not sure about the PSUs fan but the case supports 3 80mm fans. 2 120mm fans, and it includes 1 120mm.
Cooling on that is NOT an issue. Luls. -

It should be all good then
a 12cm fan would be ideal for the PSU's low wattage, saves on energy bills too, bonus. -

Mhm, and if nothing else you can take a fan out of your old rig pop it in this one and not worry about OC heat.
Not too shabby a build for 250 bucks. -

Yeah it's pretty decent actually, usually something like that could sell on eBay for a good $450 or so. -

This is a personal hobby of mine. :P Building PC's at minimal prices that run most applications efficiently.
Too bad I can never afford my own creations. xD
Don't suggest a job I'm 15 and busy with school anyway. -.- -

I wouldn't worry, keep doing what you're doing, and you could end up picking and building custom PCs for people, who knows
great money too, I've built 5 in the past week and a half, but still more people asking me. The demand for high performance PCs is getting bigger in England though. -

That's actually my dream.
Want to open a pc store. Sell prebuilts and do custom computer work on the side for gamers/workstation users.
How much profit does your parents shop maintain?
-
Anyone bothered making me a decent pc that can run all new games (that just run them without jittery fps or noticeable lag) like Global Agenda, CS:S and a new game coming out called Homefront.
Just make it off this website, That is all. http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=4
Will give reward if I thinks it's excellent. But I should be able to upgrade parts over time. -

I don't work for my parents, I work for myself, essentially
I charge 17.5% commission on top of the base model of all the parts I've selected and ordered for the customer, plus £50 per PC for Windows 7 Ultimate N Edition 32-bit/64-bit.
My biggest build was £1300 or so, including a 24" HD monitor. I got £355 off a couple of hours work. The hardest part is choosing exactly what the customer needs within their budget, but that particular build wasn't a problem.Crystallyz wrote: »Anyone bothered making me a decent pc that can run all new games (that just run them without jittery fps or noticeable lag) like Global Agenda, CS:S and a new game coming out called Homefront.

I could, but I've absolutely no idea of the value of the Australia Dollar compared to GBP.
If you know, it'd help

Holy beejebus on the homefront requirements! a QUAD CORE? RECOMMENDED?
Dear lord whats your price range? I'm working on one right now but I want an idea of what your willing to drop on this. CSS has like no requirements so thats easy but homefront is a different LEVEL. -
Homefront is recommended to be ran on a Quad-Core and at least ATi 5700.
I hope you has money ready
You could actually run it on a standard Dual-Core 2.4ghz and and a lower end 384MB ATi, but you'll have to use 800x600 for fps, and the loading times'll be a pain. Even then, you're looking at 20-30 fps on low settings, if you're lucky

Yeah... Theres no way this is getting put together under 750 USD with upgrade potential. -

Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 AMD890GX 4DDR3 2PCIE2.0 RAID GLAN 3FW SATA3 USB3 ATX
AMD Phenom II X4 970 3.5GHZ Black Edition
Antec Six Hundred Gaming Case No PSU
Antec 620W High Current Gamer Power Supply, 80+ Bronze
Mushkin 4G(2x2G) DDR3 1333MHZ PC3-10666 SL CL9
Antec 120mm SmartCool Fan (I recommend 2)
Gigabyte GF GTX460 1G Super OC DDR5 2xDualLinkDVI miniHDMI
Hitachi 1TB SATA 7200RPM 32M
That should be able to handle what your looking for. Not that much upgrade potential though.
I do hate the way that website is laid out however. Would have preferred images of each thing to get a better estimate of what it truly was. -

Nice nice, how much? You could try pccasegear.com -

I don't know I lost track. It really was quite expensive, you have to remember that modern games like that have VERY costly hardware requirements.
I could build one that is slightly cheaper but for those games what i gave you is ideal. I was assuming based on your upgradability request you wanted a more modern computer.
I'll go look and try to piece together the Estimated price. Not sure about shipping or anything in AUS.
Edit: Pieced it together 827.00 estimated because I took the processor down .1 ghz and saved 30 dollars. (that had better be a typo or its the biggest rip off ever) -

Yea without the price no reward.
Price don't matter just want it to be cheap and so I can start of with a basic pc that can run CSS and CF above 60+ fps. Then as time goes on slowly upgrade it. -

If you want CSS and CF 60 fps+ use the build I put on front page. That build will easily manage it and can be upgraded massively with a new mobo.
Homefront is a different story though. That's going to end up being the new crysis, those requirements are simply impossible on a low budget, what I posted could handle it with a high end video card and a over clock most likely. -
Crystallyz wrote: »aTastymuphin wins 20k zp.
You will get it this Friday when I get paid because stupid manager forgot to pay me.
Will buy that pc soon. Will continue to do zp rewards like this.
ACTUALLY, change that. Give the 20k zp to a friend of mine. [bL]Silent_ -
IDK about that specific PSU, but the graphic card you used requires a 350W, so you're cutting it close.
GPU's and CPU's overrate themselves power consumption wise, it is close but not as close as you think. They have sort of a "raised ceiling"
You don't NEED a 10 foot ceiling. But incase you have a 9 foot bookshelf it works better.
