Really thanks alot.Appreciate time you have given.I have finally got control center up.
What options exactly must i change to optimise my computer.I have been in the 3d section and customised everything to performance example refresh rate.Is there any other things to change that will make a difference.
i am looking forward to trying all this to see if my fps is improved.
Refresh rate keep low, I have mine set to 65. For the other setting just where it says Quality, Performance, High performance chose high performance. For the others like Anti-Aliasing and things like that chose Off or Application Controlled. Your very welcome its what i do i like fixing/tweaking PCs

So i guess last 2 questions. Is it beneficial now to try the ati tray program again? To make the Texture LOD adjustment a positive number for better fps
Secondly i have the UMA frame buffer on 128mb should i leave it as that(the original setting)
Will update later to let you know what the difference in frame rate is.Fingers crossed. -

I guess cause you know enough to boot in safe mode if it fails it cant hurt to try again. GOOD LUCK

Yes

My computer doesn't like that ati tray program.same thing happened.Safe mode problem sorted. So i am nearly ready for the test.I have certainly been educated in graphics card drivers etc. tonight.
One last noobish question. Is it necessary to have the ati control centre running in startup for all these changes to take effect or are they now in the driver default and i can close it to save RAM while playing crossfire? -
Dude, a DDR 512 and Radeon 200? lol so 6 years ago.
Yeah well. Not a lot i can do to change it at moment.Like i said before computer was given to me for free so beggars can't be choosers.
Think computer before had better stuff in it before i got it.Then all good bits taken out and old stuff replaced. On front of pc has graphics by nvidia sticker.
Anyway it works for now.So at least i can play in some form.
So keep on laughing :-) -

Yes you can, I kill every ATI process in the background before i play. -
I know how u feel.. I still have my 10-11 year computer...
Before upgrading it it had a AMD K3 processor with less than 1.Ghz
64MB DDR1 RAM and 20 GBs HDD ****ty onboard.. and i was happy with it, playing oldschool games like...*censored*
I Hope u get every problem solved there so u can upgrade ur PC some more

Graphics Card: GeForce 6600 or better
DirectX: 9.0c or better -
I am really getting infuriated with my PC because its performance is real bad.
Firstly i am having great difficulty finding a compatible RAM i only have 512mb RAM but problem is that its a DDR PC2-5200 i have been to all shops bought two different ram cards neither worked.I have been told that it was one of the first ddr2 chips and i must go to a specialist shop to find one.
Secondly my graphics card is ATI Radeon Express 200series.Which i guess is also not suited to gaming.
I have intel(r) pentium(r) D CPU 2.66ghz processor.
I run crossfire on lowest graphics setting and have no other programmes running.my problem is when more than 6 players my fps goes down to around 18/25 fps or lower and spikes constantly.
Maybe sounds a silly question but what additional purchases will make the biggest difference. For example when only 4 people playing and i get 45 fps i can play pretty well as game runs smoothly. But when lots of players its real difficult to play and mostly end up with negative or slightly positive k/d.
I am not really a tech expert but i think my cpu processors are adequate.
I am on a tight budget but if say i have 100euro maximum to spend what would you recommend? I dont need a state of art game computer as basically crossfire is only game i really play.So with that in mind could someone please give me some guidance and tell me if it will really make big difference for my k/d.
Also this problem about finding a compatible ram for my computer.Does anyone know anything about ddr pc2 5200?
I should also add that i have a 10euro saitek mouse and a really old crappy keyboard. So how do i pimp my computer on a budget?
thanks in advance
with 100 euro you can shop online 2 GB DDR2 easy any type

save up another 500 a 600 euro's and buy your self a new laptop!
Trust me dude your pc will be usefull for this year only and than new gaming area begins!
Even for crossfire your pc will only become slower and before you know it you will get 20 fps
so save up money and buy a new laptop/desktop
I have the same set up as you but more RAM and my processor is a little bite stronger but I can asure you if you wanna keep on gaming save up for a new pc!!!!
Or you will be left behind! -
One of my probems is this RAMcard .In shops like mediamarkt, saturn etc.
They don't sell compatible DDR PC 5200 RAM at all, although i did purchase 2 different ones just to try.All it did was made a constant beep and i got a blank screen.
It was one of the first ddr2 chips and now its pretty much non existent. Its difficult to find out exactly what ram is compatible with my HPackard computer.
In germany there are some specialist shops called "K and D" i think maybe they can help.
But after all the help yesterday of which i am grateful. The fps on a 8v8 games ranges between 40 and 20 constantly going up and down.I am sure other players must have an advantage over me.Thats why often i just play MM because fps doesn't matter as much in this mode.
Nevertheless at the end of the month when i get a little bit of cash will try to upgrade and try to improve my k/d.
Thanks anyway for all suggestions and advice.Just in case any other advice of something i need to update here are my system details

Will it make a difference if i update the directx version 9.0c or will it slow computer down even more as its a 90mb program? -
Not sure if it's been said but having a better video card lets you use the memory off the video card instead of your physical ram, having low ram and a not-so great video card means your computer uses more processing power to draw from other sources (your physical harddrive). You can tell if you wind up randomly losing space on your hard drive or gaining space when you restart your computer.
RAM is generally the cheapest and best option you should look at when you are upgrading your computer.
Although.. your computer is pretty old, I would say its time for a well needed upgrade! -

Thanks for advice.Think will try to invest in a better video card and maybe 2gb ram.If i can get these both quite cheaply then hopefully it will last until i get enough money for new computer. But on the positive side at least i can still play in some form.Although i often ask myself how much more enjoyable this game could be with a decent setup. -

i got that with my new ram but load ur pc without the ram in, go to bios, choose SLOW boot, shut down the pc, install the ram see if it works, how i fixed the beeping prob
