Move to NYC if you want cold climate and college EDU. -
14*, and soon to be 15.You're 13 years old. I'm discussing this as logically as I can. If you haven't realized I am a resident of Canada and have studied these topics AT SCHOOL.
I never said Canada was trash, I said if you're currently living in the USA canada is trash.
And Canada's Economy is better. And Styx lives in California, and according to CNN, Cali is in a lot of debt right now.
And I know you are a resident in Canada and you have studied this, but you're also telling lies because you want thsi conversation to revolve around you. By saying you studied this in school and then saying false things doesn't make you look smart, which you are trying to do. -
It's a peaceful nation
Apparently I have relatives from my fathers side living there (Last 2 that i've known were my grandparents which died 2005 & 2006)
Murder rate is much lower than in the U.S.
I also love cold climate.
The murder rates should be lower.
I would suggest to think this through.
You said within 2-4 years you want to do this, but I would say put yourself through college first.
With a degree, a job would be easier to find and you would be able to live better.
Whatever you choice, Good luck.

my x gf went to school in canada and she was older than me and i did her homework basically, your school system isn't better than ours, just because you guys get better marks, it's obviously because your classes are easier, and our universities are a lot better, you can't even argue that. -
if that was the case, they wouldn't have these ranks. universities are better in the us, im not arguing about that.my x gf went to school in canada and she was older than me and i did her homework basically, your school system isn't better than ours, just because you guys get better marks, it's obviously because your classes are easier, and our universities are a lot better, you can't even argue that. -
There's lots. Right now I moved to hick country (Orillia,ON) and am working at Teletech Inc (I'm sure you can google map it if you want to). Before I used to work out of AIC in Newmarket for the collections department of Capital One auto loans. There's a couple collections agencies in the Mississauga that pay really well but require you to have previous call center or collections experience.Hm. Where can I locate this "Call center" -
I see.Green_Ranger wrote: »There's lots. Right now I moved to hick country (Orillia,ON) and am working at Teletech Inc (I'm sure you can google map it if you want to). Alright i'll look into it shortly. -
Which I HIGHLY doubt.DJ_Shad0wK1LL wrote: »Well, why are we even arguing about education, economy, etc. If it's what Styx wants to do, just let him do it, it won't affect your life (Unless he becomes PM of Canada).
I have plans on becoming a chef. I also enjoy working in media arts. -
I see.

So you think you're just going to move from Cali to Canada, work at a low-wage job and live a better life than you did before?
go get an education, don't worry about murder-rates and what provence or state is better financially (because none of that even affects you). you were born in the USA and you're almost finished education in the USA, you don't just pack your bags and move to a rural Canadian city.
If you really want to move to this dream land of yours (can't wait until you get here and realize it's the same as the USA except colder and more expensive) find a college that takes students from the USA, so you can go study there and see what it's really like. Canada isn't great unless you were born there and studied there and got your education there. -
you can find it on any website that has something to do with rankings and education. by the way they do a world wide evaluation every 3 years to show you who has the better education system and the us isn't in the top 10 even.please tell me where you got these "rankings" -

I'm stubborn. This did make yet another good point though. Now why don't you run along before you get into an argument with someone xD

School First.
Work Second.
If you intend on going to college and working your way through that's ok too. But make sure your visa's are in order. You'll need your passport. And if you are that serious about it apply for a temp work visa. I'm not 100% sure of how to do that, it's been a while since I've looked in to the laws etc.
But I'm sure there are bonuses, tax breaks and government subsidizing available to you as someone coming from another country wanting to live/learn and work in Canada.
Toronto has plenty of options for colleges (and universities) in both Media Arts AND Culinary Arts.
I'm not entirely sure whats up with the question about clothes. While most Americans seem to believe we live in igloo's, Toronto often has warmer weather than say NYC or Boston. And its easily warmer than say.. places in Michigan or cities like Minnesota. If you are serious about the move, there's probably a lot more things to research than clothes!
I would start with finding a school you would like to attend. Then talk to them about coming from the states and wanting to attend that school (don't get sucked in to a private college). Once you go through the application process and get accepted you can talk to their financial department about getting student loans, government tax breaks, scholarships etc. Anything you might qualify for. Or stuff you can do in your current school in LA or extra-curricular that might help you out in Post Secondary Education.
A lot of colleges can also help with internships (after a period of time or whatever it qualifies for). Which might also help you with the job situation.
Make sure to inquire with the Canadian Embassy in the states about all the things you need to get filled out in order to live and work legally in Canada (assuming you want to take the legal route).
Worst case scenario you can probably find a place to wash dishes to pay for a few bills.
It sounds like your taking on a lot with the idea of a move like this so I wish you good luck! It could be very rewarding! -
Exactly what I'm going through and why I recommended a call center as a "starting point". I would highly recommend against making a career out of it, but this line of work has a high "drop out" rate so they're always hiring. And why wash dishes for your first few months of getting stable when you could do half the work and get paid twice as much?[GM]Saidin wrote: »Worst case scenario you can probably find a place to wash dishes to pay for a few bills. -
