Only rural Asians eat dat weird shet. Some seafood is weird as hell, but at least it ain't pets and shet.
Asia is like CF: no one gives a shet about the noob farmers.
It's the cities that matter.
Additionally, eating bushmeat is generally a bad idea unless it's the only source of food. HIV came about because some idiot in Central Africa ate a chimpanzee and then had teh secks. -

Rabbits aren't really cost efficient at all. More of a delicassy.
As for eating "pets", they're not. They're eating animals. An animal is a pet if you treat it like one, its not a pet simply because its a cute furry little thing.
This western hype about only eating pork and beef and never touching dog is because we're pretty spolied and never had to eat dog. In other countries like China, with huge cities but not much place to breed cattle, small animals like dogs and such are easier.
I'm sure if you were to go to the countryside in China you'd find sheep and cows and everything else "we" eat. -

If I was starving and had to kill a dog or a cat or something I would.
The main reason we don't eat animals like that is because we have evolved to pet them and love them, not eat them. -
i don't think its really a question of evolving so much as acclimatizing .Miss_Viki_2 wrote: »If I was starving and had to kill a dog or a cat or something I would.

Edit: Goat is so good smoked with mesquite.
I've had goose, it's the same texture as beef too. -

I've had pheasant lol. At my old high school, a math substitute/the basketball coach brought in some pheasant he hunted and cooked. It tasted very...gamy. I can't say I dislike it, exactly, but I can't say I like it, either.Meh. Birds are birds.

Cows and pigs are more convenient in any case. It's not like China is dirt poor, especially in the "huge cities." Huge cities = more civilized than rural areas = very low chance that anyone eats dogs. A lot of people own dogs, as pets, but in Chinese cities, KFC is what's hip and hot lol. Seriously, KFC is to China as McDonald's is to America. Can't blame 'em either; I have to say that Chinese KFCs have much more variety and taste better than any KFC in the U.S. that I've been to. In addition to beef and pork, goat is also a relatively popular meat in China; it tastes surprisingly good. I've read somewhere that goat is the most consumed meat in the world; not sure if that's still true... -
