How Much Does Ping Matter?

How many times has this been answered and argued in the past? The search button is your friend.
However, to do a very quick summary of all the other arguments:
If you are both standing still and shoot at the same time, of course the person with the lower ping is going to register first. That is a given. However, this will almost never happen. If two people are standing still waiting for a set mark to shoot, you are doing it wrong. There will always be someone peaking or moving into a sight first. That is where this game goes bad.
The lower ping player will have an advantage in registering *FIRST* and the game just being more responsive to actions. However, to people who don't understand how this game's mechanics work, it sounds like the low ping player is a)Being carried by ping and b)Always at an advantage.
If this game ran on a better engine, then people with high ping would truly be at a disadvantage, but luckily for you guys this game isn't like other high-end ones. It's a free FPS based on an old ass engine that wasn't truly made for online play.
TL;DR: Abuse the mechanics of the game and even a *good* player with 200 ping could compete.
Edit: Maybe 200 is a little high to play against the better players. I'd go with around 100-130. Unless you are me, then you can play with 300 ping against Chinese and Japanese players on their servers and drop them like nothing.
Then again, their game feels smother. Meh, take from this what you will.
k, oh yeah searched ping on forums didn't find anything
and why are all these words in red <.< -

each ping = 1 millisecond it takes for your computer to connect to the server and back. So a few milliseconds can make a big difference. Why do you think the big league gaming is all done LAN? SO my point is, Lifeline has a great advantage over everyone, they are still good and coordinated, but as i remmeber when they went to China and had even ping...

when lifeline played against other teams for practice matchs, they won a good portion of them. life line was able to be at there level. its just that they lost the match that mathered. lifeline lossing against insanely good players is no proof that a low ping is an advantage.Xa_DarKAcE wrote: »each ping = 1 millisecond it takes for your computer to connect to the server and back. Ping DOES matter, a lot!
Lower pingers AWAYS have a good kdr 2.0+
if u have a 20 or lower ping and u still a noob, stop playing this game and go play combat arms! NAO!
Example...
My score on alpha/bravo - 175~200 ping
1.5~2.5 KDR
My score on US South - 125~130 ping
2.5~4.0 (sometimes i went like 20 or 30/0) -

I can do just as good, if not better, with 160-180 than my 80-90 on alpha -
Ping matters a lot, especially when people are evenly skilled. The person with the low ping will aways have the advantage over the person with the 100 ping. Lets say two people are facing off and they peak at the same time... one has 30 or less and the the other has 100.
The person with the 100 ping shoots first and hits the guy on the head, most likely the guy with the 30 or less ping will tank and will take no damage. In some cases the guy with the 100 ping will have to shoot the guy multiple times on the head and he'll still be shooting blanks... giving the guy enough time to kill the 100 pinger in an instinct.
a 100 ping most likely wont have that much of a problem. Its when its over 200 that you can notice a huge difference.
Have you ever had a high ping and peeked and 1 shot someone and run away and like 1.5 seconds later it comes up with a kill? Thats because it takes longer for your comp to communicate with the servers. -
There's not difference when you're playing against people who have almost the same ping.
The problem comes when there's a fight between a low pinger and a high pinger. My friend was from spain, and he moved to florida, now his ping is 15 and when he's fighting against high pingers, his score is always 3.0. TBH he's not that good but his ping gives him a lot of advantage when fighting high pingers.
is obviously wrong
if you have 10-15 ping in this game and you are bad you should just quit
the different is massive and i have 25 ping
hell every time i drop from 25-28 down to like 23-24 im like wow this is amazing -

I really wouldnt think that little bit of a ping drop would make that much of a difference. I notice it when i go from 32 at home and 70 at a buddies house.
Its noticeable but i dont think it really affects my game. -

But say they come up behind you and shooting at you for 1 second before you notice hes there. By that time all those bullets he was firing in 1 second hit you all at once (due to his lag) and that puts you at a disadvantage with a low ping. -

that is y if u have low ping, sit in a corner. -
Perfect answer . And this is why some players with High ping use hacks to compensate that disadvantage " do not miss-interpretate what I said by thinking that ALL high pingers hack.":oThere's not difference when you're playing against people who have almost the same ping.
